"Toyota" - models of the "Corolla" series (10 generations)

Toyota Corolla - one of the oldest models in the production program of the Japanese car industry. This brand has tens of generations and is manufactured to this day.

The first models of the Toyota Corolla were introduced back in the 60s. And it should be noted that for all the time the name of the car has not been changed. Manufacturers relied on improving the technical characteristics, improving the interior and exterior. And this led to the fact that 50 years later (in 2013) the light saw a new model of the Toyota Corolla E160 11 generation, which, it is worth noting, is being produced at the present time.

Over the years, the Japanese quality managed to prove itself only from a good side, so sales at the moment have reached a high figure of 40 million units. Now we can say that this car rightfully takes the lead in the market and is the best-selling in all countries of the world.

In the article we will consider the history of Toyota brand, what models it produced during its activity, briefly sound their features and technical characteristics.

First generation - 60s

The beginning of the history of Toyota's automobile brand began in 1966. It was then that the first model E10 was assembled. It was an inexpensive family car, quite unpretentious, but very practical. This "Toyota" (models at that time were standard equipment) was produced with three types of body: coupe, sedan and wagon.

The machine is equipped with an engine, the volume of which is 1.1-1.2 liters. Power ranged from 60 to 78 horsepower. The usual manual transmission in some models was replaced by a dual-band automatic.

The assembly of the first generation Toyota Corolla E10 continued for 4 years, and was successfully sold in America, Japan and Australia.

Toyota Corolla in the 70's

These years were remembered by the fact that over the decade two generations of E20 and E30 were produced. This was a big breakthrough for Toyota Motor Corporation, as they, while maintaining a low cost, were able to continue the production of the Corolla range.

The Toyota model introduced others. E20 differed from the first generation weighing (900 kg) and the shape of the body, which acquired some smoothness. Also, the 8-valve engine was improved, now its volume ranged from 1.2 liters to 1.6 liters. Accordingly, increased power, which reached 115 horsepower. It was on this model that stabilizers of lateral stability were first installed , which significantly improved the suspension characteristics. It is worth paying attention to the gearbox: the automatic has become a tri-band, and the mechanical one is a five-speed one.

"Corolla E30" was released in 1974. No special changes were made to the car, only the wheelbase and a little body were enlarged. However, this model was first started exporting to Europe, where it was noticed almost immediately by car enthusiasts.

Toyota Corolla in the 80's

For this decade, the company released the fourth, fifth and sixth generation of the Toyota car. Models and prices were slightly different from the old ones.

Toyota Corolla E70 was remembered by an abundance of body variants. They were more than 5: a compartment with a different number of doors, a sedan, a car, etc. Also motorists were pleased with the parameters of the engine, for this model diesel units with a volume of 1.8 liters were installed for the first time. You can not keep silent about the dimensions: the length has reached 4 meters.

Toyota Corolla E80 appeared in 1983. This brand is represented by a hatchback. Due to the fact that it was front-wheel drive, it was possible to release a series of sports cars.

In 1987, the Corolla was introduced with the new E90 body. It had a length of 4326 m, type "car" and a forced engine equipped with a compressor, on the platform 4A-GZE. It was on this model that the manufacturer was able to completely abandon the rear-wheel drive configuration.

Currently, cars of this generation are sold for 1000-2000 dollars.

Toyota Corolla in the 90's

Toyota, the E100 and E110 models belong to the 7th and 8th generations, and in the 90s they continue to produce the Corolla series. In 1991, the light saw a new car with a smooth and round body, an increased length. The E100 model received the ADAC award and was named the most reliable and safe.

In 1995, the eighth generation of the E110 machine debuted. However, in 1999 the car was already restyling and some technical improvements. It is reliable, so this generation can be very often found on the roads and now. The price for the car is about 6000 dollars.

Toyota Corolla (1999-2006)

Externally Corolla looks smart and at its age is quite modern. After restyling, the round headlights of the head optics disappeared. They were combined into one lightblock. Interestingly look the front turn signals, which are mounted in the butt of the wings. The design of the car, like all models of the Japanese manufacturer of that period, is very calm and reserved.

When looking at the profile, "Toyota" (model E120, E140) looks quite large. The slightly rising glass line adds swiftness to the image. It should be noted that the developers in this generation have excluded from the model range a five-door hatchback, there is only a liftback body. The sedan has a big enough overhang in its trunk. But everything looks harmonious. Behind the exterior of the car decorate the large optical fiber optics. And each type of body they have.

If we talk about the salon, then in Japanese it is kind and very convenient. The dashboard is quite informative, round pointers give the driver the maximum amount of information required. The central console is slightly turned towards the driver, which is very convenient when using. Like the exterior, the interior is very reserved, but looks solid and strict. The luggage compartment of the car, which looks quite large, looks like this, especially at the sedan.

Technical part 9 and 10 generation

Machines were equipped with gasoline power units in 1400 and 1600 cm 3 , as well as a 1300-cub. Twelve-valve. There were diesel engines, which were not widely used. Each of the power units is characterized by a sufficiently high indicator of liter capacity. Get them became possible with the use of 16-valve heads of the unit. Thanks to the "toyotovskaya" VVT-I gas distribution system, which was installed on all cars after restyling, they demonstrate high fuel efficiency. They were equipped with five-speed automatic or automatic transmissions. However, under the order for a three-door version it was possible to install a six-speed transmission.

Both in front and behind the car independent wheel suspension , which is equipped with stabilizers of lateral stability. And all the elements have a great resource even on bad roads. The machine has a rack and pinion steering, which is equipped with a hydraulic booster in any configuration. On the front axle are mounted disc brake mechanisms, and behind - drum, but sometimes there are discs. In the latter case, the cars were equipped with an anti-lock system, which significantly helps in critical situations.
