Since 1923, on the basis of workshops, a school was set up, preparing instructors for embroidery. In 1928 graduates of this school created the Artel named after March 8, later, in 1960, became a factory. Traditions of gold embroidery nevertheless survived. During the USSR, the Torzhok gold embroidery factory named after. March 8 produced mostly insignia for the Soviet army, in small quantities - panels, ochechniki, skullcaps.
