Topiary is a tree of happiness, made by own hands

Topiary trees are artfully trimmed tree crowns, which adorn gardens and parks. Especially such a decorative haircut is popular in Western Europe, and in fashion it came in as far back as the 18th century. Slender rows of perfectly smooth brush shrubs, squares, rhombs stretched along the avenues and created labyrinths in regular parks near palaces and castles. Currently, the topiary is an ornamental artificial tree, which is made from a wide variety of materials for decorating the interior. And the forms, sizes and appearance of these works of floristic art are very diverse, it all depends on the skill and creative intention of their creator. Topiary is not an imitation of a living tree, not a small copy of it, it is quite an independent product in its design, which sometimes has the most fantastic, bizarre forms. To make its crown, natural materials are often used: dried fruits and large seeds, flowers, cones, leaves, shells, various spices that the housewives use in cooking. Artificial trees, collected from fragrant plants, not only are an ornament, but also aromatize the room, exuding a slight pleasant smell. In addition to natural, often in the manufacture of such a tree use artificial materials: flowers and twigs, glass beads and beads, twisted cord, satin ribbon, etc.

Topiary of leaves and flowers can be made from natural dried material (autumn leaves collected in the garden, flowers of the immortelle, which retain their shape and color for a long time). As a base for the crown, take a round ball made from a floral sponge, foam rubber, kapron stocking stuffed with cotton, a children's toy - a small plastic ball - will also be suitable. This foundation is planted on the stem, which is a branch from a tree, planed and painted in the right color, fixed in a pot with the help of a diluted construction gypsum. The ball-base for the crown is pasted with leaves and flowers, starting from the top, in a circle and up to the stem itself, or (if it is made of a floral sponge or foam rubber), simply stuck into it short petioles of prepared dried plants. If you decide to work with glue, then you must attach the elements in a certain way. We spread only the lower part of the sheet with the sticky compound. Then, after gluing it, the top will lag behind the surface of the base, and the crown will turn out to be more fluffy and natural. The leaves should be overlapped a little, one on top of the other so that there are no gaps between them. If you simply stick the petioles into the sponge, also do it tightly, leaving no voids. After the ball-crown is completely covered with leaves and flowers, the composition is decorated, bringing it to perfection, using for this purpose satin ribbons, beads, etc. The surface of the pot with the frozen gypsum is covered with colored pebbles, sisal threads, shells or dried moss. To topiary long served as a decoration room, it is covered from above with a special tool from the dust Dried Flower Spray or ordinary hair spray.

It's easy to make a coffee topiary with your own hands. To do this, large coffee beans are glued on the base-crown , densely covering the entire surface. To ensure that the gaps between the grains were invisible, the ball for the crown is first colored in a coffee-brown color. Such a topiary is a wonderful fragrance of the room. In order for coffee to retain its fragrant smell, do not cover the product with varnish. If a moisture-resistant adhesive is used to glue the grains, the dust can easily be washed off with warm water. As a decor use golden beads or artificial roses, elegant transparent twigs, colored feathers, etc.

Tabletop or floor (high) topiary is not just a decoration of the room. In this stylized tree there is a deep symbolic meaning, it is not accidental that it is called a "tree of happiness".
