Photo, description and scheme of square napkins crochet

Considering the fact that the crocheted napkins are a classic of hand-made creativity, it is not surprising that almost all knitters try to make them. Ordinary round beautiful napkins (crochet) are unusually in demand, however not less popular are products of square, oval and hexagonal shape.

Kinds of square napkins

Like any other, square napkins can consist of:

  • From one large motif with strapping.
  • Of several motifs with a common border.
  • From a grid with strapping.

The rim, that is, the delicate narrow strip running along the edge of the product, is an indispensable element of napkins and tablecloths. It distinguishes an independent product from a motive intended for connection with other elements. Almost all the schemes of square napkins (crocheted tied) are designed in such a way that the edge ends with a harness that gives the product a neat and complete look.

How to tie a simple square napkin

The picture below shows a small square-shaped motif.

Its use is universal: the fragment can be used to create small napkins by crocheting or to make one large, connecting several identical elements. In the latter case, the tying cloth is framed by a tying cloth.

In order to get an independent product, you need to follow the proposed scheme, and when the motive is linked, perform all five rows of strapping. A ready-made napkin is used to decorate flat surfaces or as a stand under a hot cup. For stiffening it can be treated with a solution of PVA, gelatin or starch. Not bad looking small beautiful napkins (crocheted executed), playing the role of stands under the hotter. They can be decomposed in different places. To create napkins you need to relate several motives. A perfect addition to the kit will be one large napkin with the same pattern.

Large square napkin

As already mentioned above, large schemes of square napkins (crochets) can include either one large or several small motifs. The following diagram illustrates the sequence of execution of a rather large product consisting of one fragment.

The central element is made in the form of four "pineapples", diverging in different directions. This pattern is very convenient for the expansion of canvases, so so often there are schemes of square napkins crocheted, with such details.

A characteristic feature of large napkins is the use of several levels of strapping. In the above example, the first level is a small "pineapple", going in a row, the second is a neat lace harness that completes the product.

Crocheting lessons for napkins: how to increase the size of the product

Often there is a situation in which it is required to increase or, conversely, to reduce the area of the knitted napkin. The scheme chosen by the knitter can fully meet her requirements concerning the pattern, but not match the size. Of course, the natural way out is to look for another scheme of square napkins (crochet). However, do not rush. If the composition contains the same arrangement of elements as the large wipe scheme described in the previous paragraph, there are ways to remove or add several rows.

If you want to enlarge the fabric, you can repeat its elements. It will be most convenient to perform an intermediate border (small "pineapples") not one, but two or more times. The scheme already contains the correct extension, so do not worry about the fact that the border does not fit and the canvas will be deformed. The pattern will look the same, just the number of "pineapples" along the faces of the square will be larger.

You can also achieve the expansion of the napkin by tying in additional rows of mesh. In this case, the product will get a more openwork and airy look. In any case, the finishing edge should be performed only once, as well as in the original wiping scheme.

Reducing the blade

In a similar way, the opposite effect is performed: they take out any elements of the napkin and reduce its area. You can remove the same components, which in the previous paragraph recommend adding:

  • Pattern strip.
  • Grid strip.

There are schemes where the elements are not located in circular bands, but go from the center to the outer edge. Unfortunately, changing the size of these napkins is ungrateful. As a result of painful efforts, you can get a shapeless product with broken proportions of the ornament.

A few words about the yarn

Traditionally, a thin cotton thread of light shades is used for making napkins. The thinner the yarn, the more accurate and elegant the product will look. Optimum can be considered a thickness of 500-600 m / 100 grams. Do not be afraid that this thread will be very difficult to work with. Napkin - this product is small, so its production does not take too much time.
