Theater and cinema actor Yankovsky Rostislav Ivanovich: biography, roles and interesting facts

Actor Rostislav Ivanovich Yankovsky spent his life in the shadow of his brother, the famous actor Oleg. But he himself was an outstanding man, his filmography has more than 50 paintings, he played many of the brightest roles in the theater. Jankowski lived a long and interesting life, filled with creativity, love and success.

Childhood and family

February 5, 1930 in the family of a hereditary nobleman appeared first-born - Yankovsky Rostislav Ivanovich. The father of the boy belonged to the Belorussian-Polish family, his name was changed in the Red Army to the Russian manner in Ivan. Prior to the revolution, Ian Yankovsky was the staff captain of the Life Guards of the Semyonovsky Regiment, after serving in the Red Army, he was able to fight under the command of Tukhachevsky. But these facts of biography did not help to avoid the repression that began in the 1930s. The Jankowski family was forced to move for a while until it remained in Rybinsk, where the father built a reservoir. In this city lived a huge number of exiles: actors, scientists, writers. In this environment, the family with the noble roots was organically blended. Rostislav's childhood was held in a wonderful atmosphere, despite everyday difficulties, in Rybinsk, amateur performances were constantly put on, poems were read, books were discussed. In this situation, the boy grew up and developed. During the Second World War, the family went to Kazakhstan, then to Tajikistan, where his father worked on construction sites of large industrial facilities. For several years the family traveled almost all the Union republics. During the war, the family had two more boys - Nikolai and Oleg. In the 1950s, the Yankovskys moved to Saratov, where the father of the family died, and the care of the boys lay on the shoulders of his elder brother Rostislav and his mother, who had learned accounting.

In school, Jankowski did not really like studying, he grew up a little withdrawn, read a lot, reflected, did boxing, even won in competitions. In his teens he became an active participant in school amateur performance. Parents supported his son's enthusiasm for theater, but difficult times and the need to earn money did not allow Rostislav to go on to study further.

The Beginning of Adulthood

After school, which Yankovsky Rostislav Ivanovich graduated without brilliance, the young man began to work as a dispatcher of the motor depot in Leninabad. At the age of 19, he already got his own family and did not see any prospects in life for himself. Time and desire to learn was not, and still the main outlet in his life was amateur performance. He never really considered seriously becoming an actor. The family, although they loved music and theater, was never close to theatrical activities. However, the parents of the Yankovsky brothers always supported their children in all their endeavors, so Rostislav was not prevented from going his own way, and helped with advice and encouraged.

Way to the stage

Jankowski was engaged in a drama circle at the Palace of Culture, where he saw the head of the local dramatic theater, Dmitry Mikhailovich Likhovetsky. Jankowski Rostislav, whose biography changed his direction, subdued him with talent and spontaneity, and he immediately invited him to work in the theater. But Rostislav began to refuse, referring to the lack of education and experience, Likhovetsky was persistent. Jankowski began working in the theater, and at the same time he studied at the acting studio. This experience was for him a pass into a new, real life. At this time he played in such performances as "Makar Dubrava" Korneichuk, "The Last" by M. Gorky. In 1957, Yankovsky Rostislav Ivanovich, whose biography is now permanently associated with the acting profession, moves to Minsk with his family. With the Minsk Drama tour he traveled all over the corners of the USSR, visited fraternal states. Everywhere he was accompanied by incredible success. Natural aristocratism, a stately figure, endless charm and huge talent have caused such a stable, long-term success.

Rostislav Ivanovich Jankowski served in a single theater for almost 60 years (not enough for a year before such a memorable anniversary). He was repeatedly tried to entice into other theaters. Once during a tour in Leningrad, he received three invitations at once: one from the famous Igor Vladimirov, the second from Tabashnikov, the main director of the Petersburg Lenin Komsomol Theater, the third from Elina Bystritskaya from the Maly Theater in Moscow. But Yankovsky remained true to his native theater and never regretted it. Loyalty and decency are in general two main features of Rostislav Ivanovich. Directors valued Yankovsky for not only playing the role, but literally living on the screen. He liked to act and rarely refused even small roles.
