The Russian "treshka" BMW 318i

BMW "treshka" with the sign "318i", equipped with a two-liter engine, is assembled not in Germany, as any motorist might think, but in Russia.

The appearance of the BMW 318i of 2001 and 2002 is not much different. The eye sections of the front optics, the hood were changed. In addition, the direction indicators were hidden behind a transparent glass, and also expanded the "nostrils" of the radiator grille. The profile and the body of the car changed even less: a vyshtampovka appeared on the side, and the rear of the car received a modified rear bumper and new lanterns.

All these relatively small changes, combined with the new 16-inch wheels with steel discs, give a dynamic appearance to the BMW 318i. A car photo is a prime example.

Under the hood of the car there is a two-liter engine. It's a little unusual that the motor is almost completely placed in the base - it protrudes no more than 10 centimeters beyond the front axle. The unit itself is installed at an angle of about 20 degrees, rather than vertically, and shifted to the right with respect to the central axis.

The left mudguard with the sign "Autotor" indicates that the car was going to Kaliningrad plant. This reduced its cost compared to the same, but collected in Germany, by 20%. BMW 318i, whose price is about 37000 euros for the German assembly, at 7000 more expensive than the domestic one. The machine made in Russia will cost 30,000 euros. Despite the cost, the quality of the "autotor" assembly is better than the German one, which was repeatedly confirmed by Munich inspectors.

At idle the engine is virtually invisible and imperceptible trembling on the body of the car (noise insulation in BMW has always been at a high level). The unit, tilted at an angle of 20 degrees, helps to minimize vibrations from the running engine.

The BMW 318i has an automatic box. Switching gears is gentle, fast and adequate.

The power unit equipped with the Valvetronic system is capable of giving a torque of 200 Nm at 3500 rpm. In the car also installed the Doppel-Vanos system, thanks to which the maximum torque is kept in a wide range of revolutions.

The BMW 318i has become more aggressive on the road. The car is able to "shoot" at high speed. Up to an indicator of 100 km / h, the "trash" accelerates in just 10 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is 214 km / h, which is more than the previous result of eight km / h.

The new systems have a positive impact on the economy of the car. The sensor, which shows the instantaneous fuel consumption, is almost always located in the extreme position to the right, but the average fuel consumption does not exceed 8 liters per 100 km. BMW, assembled in Kaliningrad, can work without failures with gasoline, the octane number of which is not less than 91, and the German number - not less than 95.

This is an easy and well-controlled car that will bring the owner a lot of pleasant emotions.
