If you touch on the topic of the Italian car industry, then certainly the mind of every second person will come up with the name of such a concern as "Lamborghini". "Kauntach" is one of the unique models produced by this company. Countach is a supercar manufactured by the company for 16 years, from 1974 to 1990. But during this time, not many copies were released - only 1,997. However, this fact makes the car even more unique.

Briefly about the model

The first thing that distinguishes "Lamborghini County" is its name. The word "countach" is an Italian version of "wow!" In the Piedmontese dialect. This delighted exclamation escapes from the lips of local men at the sight of a beautiful woman. And initially the car had the code name "Project 112". In terms of name, the machine has become unique in its kind, as the Lamborghini concern usually assigns its models to such designations, which in one way or another are associated with bullfighting.

Design

The appearance of the model was developed by a specialist named Marcello Gandini from the studio Bertone. He did not focus on ergonomics, but simply conveyed his vision of the car. The model turned out to be angular, low and wide. The design of the case is interesting, in many respects this unusual form was achieved due to the use of trapezoidal planes. Yes, there are smooth lines in the image, but they do not soften the external angularity.

Another highlight, which can boast of "Lamborghini County" - it's his guillotine door. They are also called "scissors". However, it is this machine that the standard doors would not fit, because it is too wide for them.

The Countach range is calculated in several modifications. And one of the most original is the LP400S. Its features were wide tires, and even spoilers (front and rear), thanks to which it was possible to increase the stability of the model at high speeds. A feature of the extreme modification, which became known as Evoluzione, was a very modest car weight - only 980 kg.

Interior

A couple of words worth mentioning about the Lamborghini Countach characteristics in aesthetically-comfortable terms. After all, how successful the model of the salon is, it means a lot. Because it is inside the car that a person spends time sitting at the wheel.

Well, the first two generations of models were characterized by a too low roof. Because of this feature, the high driver was extremely uncomfortable inside, as was his passenger. But this defect was eliminated in 1982. Then the roof was lifted by 3 centimeters, thanks to which the free space became at least a little bit more.

But the finish, judging by the reviews, was at all models excellent. The interior clearly showed the sporting notes of design, but no surpluses could be seen. Since the developers were betting on the simplicity of the design.

But in the jubilee versions there are already such nice features, like power windows, automatic seats and a new leather interior. Very quickly, these Lamborghini cars were sold.

Lamborghini Countach, by the way, like any other car, had a luggage compartment. Its volume was 240 liters. If you remember that this model is a supercar, then we can say with confidence - the trunk is quite impressive. It is also worth noting that, at the request of the buyer, an air conditioner could be installed in the car.

Prototype

The first version of Lamborghini County is a car LP500. It was a bright yellow color. It was this car that was shown to the public in 1971 in Geneva at an automobile show.

The model was unusual. Its body was made of porous aluminum, and still used several unique design solutions. The serial machines were different. Still under the hood of the prototype was a 5-liter engine. This motor was decided not to be put on serial versions, as it was badly cooled.

Unfortunately, this machine has not survived to the present day. It was destroyed during the crash test in order to obtain a European safety certificate. And the prototype was the only one.

Characteristics

The first serial Lamborghini Countach was published in 1974. The modification became known as LP400. Under its hood was a 12-cylinder V-engine in volume of 4 liters. He produced 375 horsepower! Thanks to him, the car accelerated to 100 km / h in just 6.3 seconds. And the maximum that the speedometer could reach was 290 km / h.

In this version, Lamborghini Countach existed for four years. The last copy was released in 1978. He was the closest to all the other cars to the design of the prototype. The exception was the rear lights and installed air intakes with ventilation holes, thanks to which the engine was better cooled. A total of 157 such cars were produced.

His follower was the LP500S version with a 5-liter engine. The body was slightly transformed, which made it possible to install such a large engine and provide it with a good level of cooling. Yes, and the dynamics of the model was better than its predecessor - the first "hundred" it was exchanged after 5.6 seconds from the start. And its high-speed maximum was 315 kilometers. However, after a while there was even more powerful variant - with the 5.2-liter motor, producing 455 "horses".

Other Models

The notorious LP400S was developed by engineer Giampaolo Dallar. Some changes have touched the power unit, but most of all the appearance of the machine has changed.

In addition to wide tires, large wheel arches appeared. By the way, because of the spoilers mentioned earlier, the model became heavier by 50 kilograms. This, in turn, has affected the maximum speed performance of a supercar. They have become smaller by 15 km / h. So, as the reviews say, few people decided to prefer speed stability. Especially the controllability and so it became better - it was promoted by wide wheels.

And then the Lamborghini Countach 5000QV appeared. Under its hood, a 48-valve 455-hp V12 engine was installed. The novelty was noticeable change - the carburetors were now not on the side, but on the motor. So it turned out to improve air intake. That's only negative moments, too. Because of this innovation, the rear visibility has become almost zero.

Then, when the era of "County" was coming to an end, carburettors were decided to replace the injectors, and in the body to bring some Kevlar elements.

Jubilee version

By the 25th anniversary of the company, a model called the 25th Anniversary Countach was released. Speaking of the technical part, the machine is almost identical to the 5000QV mentioned above. However, even the developers finally solved the problems associated with cooling the brakes. It was decided to install air intakes in the front spoiler, and on the roof of the engine compartment and on the sides. By the way, at that time "Lamborghini" bought out "Chrysler", the developers of which contributed to the novelty of their contribution. They decided to use carbon fiber in the process of making a body kit and a bumper.

It is safe to say that in Russia there are no owners of such a car, as Countach. After all, these machines were produced in such limited quantities. So all the owners - in Europe, mainly in Italy. But even there the rarity is "Lamborghini County". The price of version 5000QV was $ 100,000 at the time of its release (this is 1985). Now, according to experts, the cost of a rare supercar could well be $ 250,000. And this is at least. If the model is equipped with a wing, audio system, air conditioning and other nice features, you will have to pay a more impressive amount for the purchase.

Foreign owners pay special attention to the silent operation of the engine, smooth running, easy handling and, of course, high cost. The fuel tank of the model accommodates 120 liters of gasoline, that's just enough for 300 kilometers. Plus, you can add a considerable cost of maintenance, which for a car of this class is mandatory.

Interesting Facts

Few people know that in the 1981 film "The Cannonballs" the heroines of Tara Burkman and Adrianne Barbro are speeding up to "County." True, the version is modified, painted black for shooting. In a trickle called "Speed Zone", a bright red model was used. It was she who performed one of the most difficult and spectacular automotive stunts in the history of cinematography - "Lamborghini" slipped 30-meter ditch with water.

And it was this model that belonged to Rocky Balboa, played by Sylvester Stallone in the legendary series of films about the "Italian stallion". And the "Kauntach" machine lit up in the movie "The Wolf from Wall Street", the main character of which was played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

Also, the car participated in the films "David and Madame Ansen", "Kung Fury", "Doberman" and in the series "In Philadelphia is always sunny." However, such interest, shown in relation to the machine, is not surprising. The model is bright, spectacular, so it adds a film of extra flavor.
