A performance is a work that relates to theatrical art. It is based on a dramatic or theatrical scenic plot. In its development take part: the director, actors, artist and composer. The word performance came from the Latin spectaculum, which means a spectacle.

Theatrical art

Types of theater

There are such types of theater:

  • The ballet is a kind of scenic skill where dance and music are inextricably linked. The basis may lie artistic or musical work, but there are also plotless performances.
  • Puppet show. Actors here are dolls, managed by people. The productions are based on fairy tales. Puppet show is a great entertainment for children.
  • A musical or a musical comedy. Here, songs, music, dialogues, and dances are tightly intertwined. The script of the performance is usually uncomplicated.
  • Opera. It has an artistic and dramatic form. Singing prevails in such a performance.
  • Operetta - almost the same as the opera. Has a comic story and has a popular easy character.
  • Pantomime is a stage performance without words. The plot or story is transmitted through facial expressions and gestures.
  • Drama of the absurd. The plot is based on a heap of facts, incoherent actions, emotions, fates and words.
  • Street theater. His actions are held in the open air. Street performance is a production in which actors play without a stage.

Genres of performances

Theatrical performances (performances) are divided into such genres:

  • Vaudeville is a comedy with dances and songs.
  • Drama is a production, the plot of which is built on the life of a real person. The basis is the conflict between the protagonist and society.
  • Comedy is the reverse side of the drama. Called to ridicule the problem between individuals or people and society.
  • Mime is a humorous genre of the play. It consists of small entertainment scenes.
  • Mystery is an echo of a medieval religious theater. Performances were shown on the main square. They alternated interlude and religious scenes.
  • Melodramatic drama is a performance with a sharp conflict and intrigue.

Studio Theater
