"The Rebinder Effect": features

This novel is a collection of chapters, each of which is called a line from the work of Pushkin. In the book - a lot of diverse characters: from a gifted musician to an ordinary-looking dreamy schoolgirl. The author called the work "The Rebinder Effect" by the family saga.

Why does the book have such a name? The Rebinder effect is a change in the strength of the material, which increases its ability to deform. Minkin-Taitscher writes about people who survived Stalin's time, thaw. Their characters have acquired in these difficult years flexibility, the ability to adapt to life's circumstances.

Other books of the writer:

  • "Where there is milk and honey."
  • "A woman on a given topic."

"The storm darkness covers the sky ..."

This story is about a boy who grew up in a regular Moscow communal apartment. His father was killed at the front in 1942. He was brought up by his mother and grandmother. One day a woman came to their house. She was crying sobbingly. Later, when the boy grew up, he learned that an unfamiliar guest was involved in the "doctors' case."

Lyova was only five years old when he was brought to music school. At the audition attended a famous educator who spotted a gifted child and took to his violin playing class. Since then, Lyova has been doing music for four hours a day.

Mother and grandmother incessantly fought for his love. This continued until a new person appeared in the house. He was bald, plump, but extremely positive. Mom groom offered her his hand and heart. And then he took Khabarovsk with him to a distant city. Soon my grandmother and my favorite teacher died.

"Her sister was called Tatiana ..."

They were neither sisters nor even distant relatives. Olya and Tanya were friends from elementary school. Tanya's mother was the same woman who once came to Lyova's grandmother. The woman was suspected of wrecking. Mother Tanya was fired. And her daughter almost lost her friend. Father Oli had nothing against the Jews and admitted that there could be mistakes in this loud case. However, my daughter forbade friends with Tanya. But soon Stalin died. Suspects of sabotage were released and reinstated in posts.

When the grandmother died at Leva Krasnopolsky, Tanya volunteered to help this young genius. She cared about him before the arrival of her parents. And then Lyova left with her mother to the Far East, without even saying goodbye.

"Not everyone will fall in love with happiness ..."

The fate of the heroes of the book intertwine. Tanya and Olya are school friends. One of their classmates is an unusual girl named Kira. She differs in everything from her contemporaries. And the manner of dressing, and appearance, and family. In her house there is an unusual situation. Grandma turns to her granddaughter exclusively in French. There are a lot of amazing and beautiful things in Kira's room. And most importantly, there is a secret in this family.

In one of the short stories, the author tells about Kira's sister's own sister. The girl was convicted under Article 58. In prison, she gave birth to a girl, but soon died. Kira's daughter (a friend of Olya and Tanya was named in honor of her relative) was taken up by a simple and uneducated Evdokia. The woman raised the daughter of the enemy of the people in a deep province. And no one has ever found out that Cyrus is her non-native.

"It's not the destiny that destined me ..."

Olga's father did not in vain convince her of the need to end her friendship with her only friend. He knew firsthand what a punitive state machine is. Ivan's parents were dispossessed at the time when he was educated in the city. Neither his mother nor his father reached Siberia: they died on the way. Since then, Ivan has lived quietly, for fear of unnecessary conversations, tried to pay as little attention as possible. And in the same spirit he brought up his children.

The fate destroyed by the revolution is discussed in the book The Rebinder Effect. Elena Minkina-Tycher does not divide her characters into positive and negative ones. It describes both the tragedy of the victims of dekulakization, and the sad destinies of children whose parents once stood at the origins of so-called war communism.

Life spared no one. But the heroes of Minkin-Taicher, despite betrayals and the death of their parents, continue to live. The characters in the novel are an outstanding physicist, a talented musician, doctors who perform their duty selflessly, despite adversity and poverty. The heroes of the book "The Rebinder Effect" are people who devoted their lives to the profession.
