In what place and when the monastery of the Intercession was founded

In the old days, the place where the Matrona of Moscow at the Taganka is now located was a cemetery "On the squalid houses" for the executed and wandering people. Later, from the middle of the common people, a merchant's layer emerged. She did not use reverence in the country. Therefore, at this cemetery, merchants were buried one time.

In the first half of the 17th century, Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich issued a decree on the construction of a women's monastery here. For a long time he called the Pokrovsky monastery in squalid houses. When he was a spiritual seminary was opened. It was a real center of Orthodoxy. Its first destruction and looting was committed during the entry into Moscow of the troops of Napoleon Bonaparte. About the second speech will go on.

Restoration of the monastery after the explosion of the bell tower and the demolition of the chapel

The second wave of destruction and looting of the Intercession Women's Monastery was much more catastrophic. At the time of the NEP the chapel was demolished. The bell tower was blown up and turned into ruins. In the premises where the monastic cloisters and the audience of the theological seminary were located, the offices of business people began to function, and places of entertainment were created: card rooms and billiard halls. In the postwar period, the place was in desolation - until 1994. Then, by common efforts of the ministers and parishioners, they began to work on the restoration of monastic monasteries.

Very soon Pokrovsky Women's Monastery became the most visited place in Russia. This is where pilgrims from all over the world try to get here. One of the reasons for such a high popularity are the relics of St. Matrona of Moscow, which was canonized in 2004.

The Holy and Blessed Matrona is close and dear to people today

Thousands and thousands of people flow here in two streams. One is directed and an icon located in the monastery yard. Another stream of people reaches for the entrance to the temple, where its relics rest. Many bring bottles with them in order to collect from the consecrated source of pure medicinal water.

It is remarkable that regardless of the weather, people are patiently and humbly standing in this many-hour line. They have bright, calm faces even in gloomy weather. They are friendly and welcoming. Western journalists are surprised how much this place changes the behavior of a person. After all, patience, courtesy and courtesy are not characteristic features of Moscow residents. It is obvious that the life of Matrona of Moscow still permeates this place with love and kindness. Even today it continues to influence us and change for the better.

The prophecies of the Matrona of Moscow do not lose their relevance

All the prophecies of Matrona of Moscow came true. While still a young maiden, she already predicted the revolution and the civil war. In the famine years, her relatives transported her to Moscow. Her healing powers and the gift of foresight were needed here in this troubled time. To her there always came a lot of people to learn about the fate of loved ones, to be healed of the ailment or to return the forces to life. The prophetess did miracles.

God's gift was manifested in her from early childhood. Wishing to help the blind daughter, mother and father took her to holy places and monasteries. As a result of this, at 14 Matrona met with St. John of Kronstadt, who blessed her with the laying on of hands to serve God and people. Her healing occurred as a result of constant prayers to God. She always asked people to protect their souls, not to turn to grandmothers and fortune tellers.

There are reports that special services also listened to her prophecies. The popular rumor says that the old lady gave advice to Stalin himself. In this regard, there was even written a picture depicting the Matron and Generalissimo together. They also said that according to her advice on the city, at the most difficult time, an airplane with Orthodox shrines flew. Before the decisive battle for the capital, the Liturgy was held in all the churches and temples, monasticism and priests prayed and fasted, without ceasing, days and nights. Their efforts brought success, and the prophet Matron began to be honored and blessed.

The blessed old lady predicted her death in advance. In doing so, she made another prophecy, saying that we all continue to come to her after her death. She told me to tell her about all the sorrows, as it was with her difficult but surprisingly bright life. On the day of May 2, she left our world in a new style. Since then, this day has become a day of remembrance of the Matron of Moscow.

How did the blessed Matron live?

Blessed Matrona Moscow was born in a very poor family. Their cottage was heated in black, and on the shelves were already sitting three starving boys. It was assumed that the child would be given to the orphanage. But before the very birth of her mother, a prophetic dream, which recommended saving the girl, had a dream. The child was blind.

Later revealed that her spine began to bend and bulge in the chest area in the form of a cross. But, from an early age, the girl began to manifest the gift of prophecy and healing people. When Matryonushka turned seven years of age, suffering and ill people were already gathered at their hut, expecting help from the girl. Thanks to this, the family stopped starving. Grateful visitors brought gifts and food. The more developed the divine talent in Matryona, the more manifested weakness of her body. So, by the age of seventeen, the blind girl could not walk anymore. Her legs were cut off.

After the revolution, her brothers joined the Red Army, so there was no one else to take care of Matryona. The villagers took her to Moscow, raging with passions, where her relatives first gave her shelter, then many compassionate people. In the capital, she lived from 1925 until her death in 1952. About it knew not only Moscow, but all Moscow suburbs. She was taken to bed by sick, wounded and war-maimed people, and she helped them to return to life. For those who did not know about the fate of the missing relatives, the blessed Matrona answered with precision whether it was necessary to wait and believe or order a memorial service in the church.

After the restoration of the Pokrovsky Convent, it was decided to move here the remains of the righteous Matrona. Before her death, she promised that she would always be with us and asked me to address her always, promising that she would take care of everyone who would turn to her. Today in our country there are many people who met with her personally during life and received help and support from her. They are living witnesses of this divine miracle. The temple of the blessed Matrona on Taganka helps them to touch it again and again and get the expected.
