The work "Ashik-Kerib" is a Turkish fairy tale written by MV Lermontov, being in the first reference to the Caucasus. He was exiled there in 1937 for his fatal poem "The Death of a Poet." He was terribly impressed by the senseless death of Alexander Pushkin, and in this he accused the whole secular conspiratorial nobility along with Tsar Nicholas I. And now, living in the Caucasus among the beautiful mountain peaks and rivers, in his spare time, he studies local folklore. And it's no surprise that the ancient legend of love that the whole Caucasus, the Middle East and Central Asia knew about him did not leave him indifferent and inspired the creation of this wonderful fairy tale.

Summary

"Ashik-Kerib" begins with the fact that once upon a time in the city of Tiflis lived a very rich Turkish merchant. And he had a lot of gold. But his main wealth was his only rasprekrasnaya daughter named Magul-Megery.

Once saw this beauty very poor wanderer Ashik-Kerib and immediately fell in love with her. But he was too poor to count on such a bride. However, he had a big and clean heart. He was able to play on the saz and glorified in his songs the ancient warriors of Turkestan.

Hopes for getting his beloved's hand, he had almost no one. And this made him very hard on the soul. And one day, when he was sleeping under a vineyard, Magul-Megeri walked by with her merry friends. One of her friends jumped up and started to wake Ashik-Kerib with the words: "It's not time to sleep when your gazelle passes by." The guy immediately woke up. And Magul-Megery approached him. They talked. Ashik-Kerib told her of her sadness and love for her, greatly regretting that her father would never betray his beloved daughter as a beggar. But Magul-Megeri said that the father is very rich and will reward her with gold, which is enough for them for two. Just let him ask her for her hand. But Ashik-Kerib was a proud young man and did not want to be reproached for being once poor.

The development of the plot

He gives the word Magul-Megeri that exactly seven years will wander around the world and make his fortune, and then he will necessarily come for her. And if this does not happen, then he is ready to die in the hot desert of another's land. Magul-Megeri had to agree. But she warned him that if he did not return at the appointed time, she would marry Kurshud-bek, who had been wooing her for a long time.

And then Ashik-Kerib came to his mother, asked for her blessing, kissed her sister and left. When he left the city, he was overtaken by a rider. It was Kurshud-bek, who also wanted to travel with him. However, when they approached the river and Ashik-Kerib, having dropped his clothes, sailed to that shore, the sly Kurshud-bek did not swim after him, but after taking the clothes of the poor man, he rode away. He did this in order to show the things of Ashik-Kerib Magul-Megery and his mother and thereby convince them that the young man had drowned. However, the wise Magul-Megery did not believe his story and still preferred to wait for her lover.

Decoupling

Meanwhile, the poor wanderer walked along foreign soil and sang people for a piece of bread. But once in the city of Khalaf he was lucky. When he was singing in the coffee house in the coffee house, glorifying his beautiful Megul-Megery, he heard a great pasha who was inspired by his singing and invited him to his place. From that moment on, day after day, gold and silver fell to him. He began to live cheerfully and richly. And probably, he forgot his Megul-Megeri, and maybe not, but the time was coming to an end, and he was not going on the road. And Magul-Megery decided to remind herself. She sends a golden dish with a merchant from Tiflis (who had forty camels and 80 slaves), so that he would travel around the eastern cities and display this dish for show until he found his master. And the host finally found. Ashik-Kerib, seeing the dish, remembered Megul-Megery and immediately zasobiralsya on the road. But suddenly he realized that he would not make it, and desperately prayed to Allah and wanted to throw himself off the cliff. But suddenly I saw a wonderful rider on a white horse, who decided to help him and forwarded him to his native places in time. As it turned out later, it was himself Haderilias (George the Victorious).

A happy ending

Now, on time in Tiflis, Ashik-Kerib was concerned that people would not believe him when they found out that he had reached the city in a single moment, because he would not have had two months to get here. Then the rider gave him a lump of earth from under the hoofs of his horse and said that he rubbed her eyes blind woman, and disappeared. When Ashik-Kerib came to his home, and it was already in the evening, the mother and sister were at home. Mother of tears for her son blinded and for seven years nothing has been seen. Women let the wanderer spend the night, but they did not recognize Ashik-Kerib in him.

Then he asked for his saaz, which hung on the wall. Leaving the gold coins as pledge, he went with him to the wedding. It turns out that Kurshud-bek arranged a wedding feast and already marries Magul-Megery. That night she was to be his wife. But the bride herself was in no mood for fun. She sat at a rich Chapra with her friends and held a dagger in one hand, and in another bowl with poison. But when the traveler began to sing and began to tell in his songs what he saw, she immediately recognized the voice of her Ashik-Kerib, cut the curtain and rushed to her lover's arms. Sister, after seeing all these wonderful events, ran and led her mother. And then Ashik-Kerib, so that everyone would believe his stories, smeared the blind mother's eyes with earth, she immediately saw her and recognized her son.

Genre of the work "Ashik-Kerib"

Well, what can we say about all this? I'm glad that "Ashik-Kerib" is a fairy tale with a happy ending, where the mother regained her son, sister - brother, bride - groom. And Kurshudu-beku Ashik-Kerib offered to marry the younger sister Magul-Megery, who was no less beautiful than the eldest. And in an instant all the heroes of this beautiful tale became happy. The fabulous genre of the work "Ashik-Kerib" already speaks for itself.

Taking the basis of this kind of plot, Lermontov inscribes it very characteristic for the fairy tale components. There are positive and negative heroes, donors and helpers, miracles and adventures. Lermontov preserved all the fabulous canons, and it turned out to be an excellent work with a subtle oriental flavor "Ashik-Kerib". This fairy tale was published after the poet's death in the collection "Yesterday and Today" by V. A. Sologub in 1846. Then she was very much interested in cultural figures of the Caucasian peoples. They liked the easy narrative genre of the work "Ashik-Kerib", and then it was decided to translate it into different languages: Azerbaijani, Armenian, Georgian, Kabardian and others.

"Ashug-Gharib"

The genre of the work "Ashik-Kerib" appears as another folkloric treatment of Lermontov folk legends and myths, which at that time he was very fond of. It is likely that it is a kind of Azerbaijani dastan - a special art of telling epic stories. Presumably, "Ashik-Kerib" is a Turkish fairy tale, at any rate, so the poet himself defined it. And originally, most likely, it had the name "Ashug-Gharib". The word "ashik-ashug" means "folk singer", saaz is a musical instrument, but the word "keryb-gharib" means "the poor stranger". Mikhail Lermontov "Ashik-Kerib" turned into a wonderful creation of Russian fairy-tale literature, which to this day is read by descendants.
