Curious fact: in its outlines the area resembles the Russian letter "G".

The Volga River conditionally divides the region into two parts - right-bank (more elevated) and left-bank. Despite the insignificant area, three natural zones can be observed in the region. In the extreme north-west - massifs of the taiga, in the center - forest-steppe, and in the southeast - the classical steppe.

In 1970, a pompous museum and memorial complex was opened here. The central part of it became a huge building. The museum has about 100,000 exhibits related to the life and work of Lenin. The walls of the main hall of the museum are decorated with smalt, the plates of which are covered with thin sheets of gold.

Until now, it is not known exactly who and why it was built. According to local scientists, this is one of the structures of the defensive Penza-Syzran line.
