Graphical editors in two main versions

Modern graphics editors allow you to create all kinds of images and drawings, as well as edit and view them. In order to perform any actions with a picture, it must be presented in digital form. There are two main ways to implement this process. The simplest of them implies that each pixel is described separately. That is, each point is given a specific color. Images processed in this way are called raster images. In this form, as a rule, photographs, pictures with a large number of colors and paintings are presented. Many operating systems contain free graphics editors of this type.

An illustrative example of raster graphics can be the Paint application in the Windows operating system. As for paid analogs, there are currently no equal to the Adobe Photoshop program. Bitmap graphics editors are considered the best tool for successfully working with scanned images and digital photos. This is primarily due to the fact that it is possible to achieve a better picture quality by changing the color palette. If necessary, you can increase the contrast and brightness, eliminate minor image defects. The user is given complete freedom of creativity with the use of all sorts of effects.

However, drawing from scratch is not an easy task. Therefore, in the course of time, vector graphic editors were developed, using objects as various elements and lines in the form of basic elements. Description is due to mathematical formulas. For example, to represent a straight line segment, you only need to specify the coordinates of the start and end points, as well as the color and thickness. In the case of raster graphics, it would be necessary to specify all the points to one, and with a larger thickness, the number of pixels would increase several times. From all this it follows that raster graphic editors have a fairly voluminous general description, which in some situations is absolutely not required.

Creating images from scratch is much more convenient in vector graphics applications, when you need to draw a drawing, a diagram or a drawing without smooth transitions of colors. However, it is not worthwhile to work with photographs or works of painting in this case. On the quality of a vector image, scaling has virtually no negative effect. Thus, graphic editors of vector graphics are able to create images that are undemanding to scale change.

Leading positions among similar developments belong to the program CorelDRAW, although at present there are a lot of other software of this type. The choice of the appropriate editor should be carried out depending on the task, then serious difficulties in the work should arise.
