The magic of the fairy tale "Sivka-burka, a prophet"

In Russian folk tales, the main characters are often helped by animals that have unusual and even magical qualities. This indicates the close connection of our ancestors with nature, faith in its power and justice. A vivid example is a fairy tale about the magical horse Sivka Burke. A simple story at first glance about how a prophetic kurka appears in the life of the main character and changes it for the better. It reveals the deep meaning of man's interaction with the forces of nature and gives an idea of the knowledge of the structure of the universe that the Slavs had at their disposal. To better understand our ancestors and understand their ideas, for starters it is worth remembering a fairy tale.

Summary: "Sivka-burka, a prophetic bride"

The fairy tale has several variants of the development of events. Recall the two most famous.

One peasant had three sons. The older ones were cunning and calculating, so a kind and disinterested younger brother, Ivan, was considered stupid. Work he got black, and the rest place is not the best - behind the stove. One day, his father called his sons to him and said that his time had come to die. The only dying request of the parent was that, for three nights in succession, each of the sons came to his grave and brought bread. The older brothers were frightened, so they cheated and shifted the frightening duty to the younger one. Three nights after the death of his father, Ivan wore bread on the grave of the deceased, thus fulfilling his request. For bravery and obedience he was rewarded. The father rose from the grave and told Ivan the magic words with which he could call to the aid of the magic horse: "Sivka-burka, a prophetic chaser, stand in front of me like a leaf in front of the grass!"

In another version of the tale the peasant asks his sons to find someone who tramples a wheat field at night. Senior refer to the instruction through the sleeves. Only the youngest son manages to catch a night troublemaker. It was a magic horse. In exchange for freedom, the prophetic kurka tells the main character magic words.

Happy ending

The further plot is the same. The king decides to give his only daughter in marriage, but the beautiful princess sets a condition. She agrees to become the wife of a smart young man who can jump on his horse to the window in her high treme and kiss her in the sugar mouth. Many lads tried to achieve their cherished goal, but only got injured. The protagonist also decided to try his fortune. Despite the many obstacles and ridicule of the brothers, Ivanushka manages to prove his udal. The traveling kurka helps him to fulfill the condition and win the heart of the princess. A half-kingdom in addition is also a good reward for hard work and patience.

Main character

Like in many other tales, the main character named Ivan was the third and younger son in the family. The role of the main character is assigned to him not accidentally, because, according to custom, it was with the youngest son that his parents lived out their time. Consequently, together with an equal share of the inheritance, he received all the hardships for caring for the old. But, as often happens, the younger one was deceived, and he only got problems. In fairy tales, the intervention of magical powers helped to triumph of justice, and everyone received what they deserved.

The Magic Horse

Listening to fairy tales, children learned to appreciate truly valuable human qualities; Kindness, love of neighbor, courage, unselfishness, generosity and honesty. After all, it was for them that the universe in the face of such magical animals as the horse Sivka-burka, the prophetic kurka, rewarded the heroes. The fact that the horse is magical, says his name, consisting of the name of the three suits; Gray, brown and brown. This combination is not accidental. Our ancestors believed in the unity and interaction of the three worlds. Rule is the heavenly, divine world of light. The reality is our material world. Navy is the dark world of spirits. Kauraya suit (reddish hue), symbolizing the sun, corresponds to the world of the Law. Brown color (brown tones) indicates the earthy world of Yavi. The blue suit (gray or silver color) is similar to the moonlight and symbolizes the Navi world. The word "prophetic" in the name of the horse Sivka-burka - a prophetic kurka - also indicates his supernatural origin. It means possessing secret, magical knowledge.

Thus, in a figurative form the tale narrates that people who live in conscience are favored by three worlds. Which constitute one universe, subject to the general law of justice.
