At first he is bored with his new friend, but he turns out to be a real friend for testing.

Accidentally overhearing the conversation, Seryozha learns that the fat man was deceiving him from the very beginning. He is not an "uncle", but a spy. Finding a lonely boy in Moscow, these people specially brought him to Kiev in order to get into the confidence in Slavka, get information about his father, the military engineer they wanted to kill. Seryozha finds in the things of the alleged "uncle" the Browning of his father, who he stole, and takes it. Remembering the French drummer, the boy is determined to stop the villains and at the moment when the spies try to escape, he bravely rises in their path and shoots, and then loses consciousness. Everything ended well: it turned out that for a couple of long time the Chekists watched. When the shooting started, they intervened and arrested the "uncle," and old Yakov killed Seryozha with his shot. A father arrives at the hospital for a recovering boy.
