The daughter of Zeus - goddess, mortal and muse

Since the school day, most of us know the name of the ancient Greek god Zeus. A huge number of myths and legends are associated with this great thunderer. A huge number of films and plays based on events from the life of God. The life of the inhabitants of Mount Olympus always attracted ordinary mortals. How are they? What are they eating? What do they drink? What is the name of the daughter of Zeus? Why does Perseus hate his father? And there are a lot of such questions. In this article, we will try to understand how many female children were in the hands of the great ruler of Olympus.

The famous work of Homer's Iliad sings the beauty of Aphrodite, which, as the author tells, is the daughter of Zeus and Diona. An ideal of feminine beauty, a slim, tall and adorable goddess was called Venus by the Romans. They believed that the girl appeared from the sea itself - from the depths of his foam. The cult of Aphrodite was spread everywhere: beauty and love are the true values that she knew. Her power extended not only to mere mortals - even the gods could not resist the charms of the beautiful Venus.

Aphrodite has the most direct relation to the Trojan War. It was this lady of beauty who promised Paris that he would get the daughter of Zeus and Leda, the most beautiful mortal, Elena. This goddess assisted in building a ship to visit Sparta. It was on this ship that a beautiful Greek woman flew away from Menelaus.

In his numerous works Homer argued that Aphrodite was the wife of Hephaestus (the son of Zeus and Hera). However, the goddess all her life loved only Adonis.

Another daughter of Zeus is Athena. The second name is Pallas. Myths say that the supreme god of Olympus was predicted that his son from the wife of Metis would take away the power of his father. Therefore, when his wife was in a position, Zeus swallowed it. The payment for this was an unbearable and painful headache. In order to get rid of the disease, Hephaestus, by order of his father, cut the head in half. And the daughter of Zeus, Athena, appeared with a helmet on her head, with a spear in one hand and a shield in the other. This is how it is depicted in numerous paintings.

In mythology it is believed that it is Athena that represents wisdom and justice. It was believed that it helps heroes, protects cities and settlements. The Greeks believe that only thanks to the daughter of Zeus they have the city of Athena and the sacred tree, which brings delicious fruits - olive. Among other things, the goddess did not bypass the attention of ordinary workers. Artisans, potters, weavers and blacksmiths - all worshiped her.

Numerous sources say that it is Athena who is the mother of the most courageous and beautiful god Olympus - Apollo.

In addition, in the ancient Greek mythology there are Muses, who, as claimed by these writings, were also the daughters of Zeus. The girls were patrons of creativity. The most important of them was Clay (Clio). History and epic poetry were her subjects. Lyrical poetry was under the rule of Euterpe. Thalia - the daughter of Zeus - was the third muse. She patronized fun and comedies. It is also believed that she was able to control plants and flowers. The names of the other muses: Erato, Urania, Terpsichore, Melpomene, Calliope, Polyhymnia.
