Description of the destroyer "Fast" (photo)

Ship destroyer "Fast" was built at the shipyard named after Zhdanov under Project 956 "Sarych".

In October 1989, the destroyer was adopted by the Navy (Navy) of the Soviet Union. Currently, it is in reserve of the 1st category of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet), but remains an unchanged participant in all types of exercises.

For excellent performance in combat training, the crew of the destroyer was repeatedly encouraged by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.

How a new class of ship appeared - destroyer

At the end of the XIX century, a new weapon appeared - torpedoes (self-propelled mines). This forced the military to take care of the means of combating them and their carriers.

Such a means became a universal high-speed ship, called "destroyer". His task was patrolling the country's sea borders with the aim of countering aviation, submarines (submarines) and surface ships of the enemy.

The destroyer is able to act not only alone, but also as part of the squadron. This feature was reflected in its additional name - "the squadron".

For a long time, the destroyer was the most "popular" warship in the world, but today, in times of crisis, the cost of its construction significantly affects the number of ships of this class. They began to build less often.

Currently, the world fleet has about two hundred destroyers. At the same time, the United States Navy has the largest number - 55 units, as well as about twenty destroyers are on construction shipyards in the United States.

Britain lost its former glory to the mistress of the seas and has 8 ships of this class.

There are six destroyers in the Russian Navy , of which three ships are part of the Pacific Fleet. The crew of the destroyer "Fast" adequately represents the Russian navy in the Pacific.

Project 956 "Sarych" of the Soviet Navy

The destroyers of the "Sarych" project were built on the Leningrad Shipyard No. 190 named after Zhdanov (today - "Severnaya Verf"). It was planned to launch twenty units of warships. However, the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the financial crisis that erupted in 1992, disrupted the plans of the Navy and shipbuilders. As a result, the completion of the completion of previously built ships, new destroyers were no longer laid.

Exceptions were only orders from China. In the period from 1997 to 2000, the construction of two 956-E project corps was completed, commissioned by the PRC of the PRC. Later, China ordered the construction of two more ships, but already under the export project 956-EM.

The construction of the destroyer "Fast" was also carried out on the project 956 "Sarych" (Sovremenny class destroyer, according to NATO classification).

"Fast" project "Sarych"

Destroyer "Fast" - 11th destroyer on account of the planned twenty Soviet ships of the Sarych project.

It was laid down at the Shipyard No. 190 named after Zhdanov at the end of October 1985 under construction number 871. He left the stocks in 1987, at the end of November.

During this period, the destroyer "Rapid" was part of the 13th brigade of the naval ships being built and repaired.

In the early autumn of 1989 (August-September) passed the running and state tests. At the time of passing the tests he was in the 76th brigade of missile ships, based in Liepaja.

After successfully passing the tests, the "Fast" was adopted by the Navy under the number 676.

Later, the number changed two more times: from 1991 to 1993 - No. 786, from 1993 to the present - No. 715).

At the end of October of the same year, a destroyer was introduced into the Soviet Navy.

The main characteristics of the destroyer

Destroyer "Fast" (11th destroyer of the project 956 "Sarych") has a standard displacement of 6500 tons, full - 7904 tons. The greatest length and width of the ship is 156.5 m and 17.2 m, respectively.

The destroyer's movement is provided by two GTZA-674 units with a total capacity of 100 thousand horsepower with the help of two five-blade propellers.

Power units GTZA-674 provide the maximum speed of the destroyer at 33.4 knots.

The area of action depends on its regime and the provision of energy resources, that is, the running speed and fuel reserve.

At maximum speed, the cruising range is 1,345 miles, and when cruising in economy mode (18.4 knots) this distance is 3,920 miles.

In the presence of fuel with overload, the ship can reach the target, located from it for 4500 miles.

The duration of the cruise of the destroyer "Fast" in the autonomous mode can reach 30 days.

Armament of the destroyer "Fast"

The universality of the destroyer is confirmed by its armament.

The ship is equipped with artillery, including anti-aircraft guns. The artillery complex includes two coupled artillery mounts AK-130/54 for 2,000 rounds, four six-barreled 30 mm antiaircraft artillery mounts AK-630 for 12,000 rounds.

Missile weapons of the destroyer "Fast" comprise two anti-ship missiles P-270 "Moskit" and two anti-aircraft missile systems "Uragan" for 48 launches.

To counteract the enemy's submarines and torpedoes, "Quick" is equipped with two six-barreled RBU-1000 (reactive-bomb installations) "Smerch", as well as mine-torpedo armament.

Minor-torpedo armament of the ship is represented by two torpedo tubes with four anti-submarine electric torpedoes SET-65 caliber 533 mm. A feature of torpedoes is their ability to homing on an underwater target.

The ship also has a Ka-27 helicopter, used for reconnaissance purposes.

Radio-technical weapons of the "Fast"

A modern ship without radio-technical weapons is helpless and blind. Destroyer "Quick-715" is equipped with radar stations (radar) MP-710, MP-710-1, MP-750. The range of their survey is 145 km.

The radars allow you to control the air and surface conditions, while detecting even small-scale targets.

For the over-horizon target designation (up to 200 km), the CBS-27 radar, which is part of the Most system, is used.

In the service of the Motherland

In 1989, the 175th brigade of the Pacific Fleet missile ships was replenished by the destroyer "Fast" (Project 956). From this time began his service on the eastern borders of the country.

In mid-June 1990, the destroyer was enlisted in the forces of constant readiness. In the same month, the ship's crew first became a participant in the exercises in the Baltic Sea. After the training, the ship arrived in Tallinn, where it was visited by more than a hundred foreign attachés.

September 15, "Quick" went on the way home, to the Pacific Fleet. The transition lasted about two months.

Already in the middle of December 1990, the destroyer's crew was again in training - took part in testing submarines in the waters of the Sea of Japan.

Summing up the results of 1990 showed that the ship is the best in combat training in the conditions of using nuclear weapons.

In the spring of 1991, the destroyer was back in training. At this time, "Quick" defended ships of the Pacific Fleet from the attack of aviation and submarine "enemy."

In August of the same year, "Quick" participated in joint exercises conducted in the Sea of Japan. The actions of the crew were monitored by observers from 8 countries.

According to the results of 1991, the crew of the "Fast" won the first place in the results of artillery fire among the ships of the 1st rank.

In the following years, until December 1998, "Quick" participated in rescue operations, escorted the nuclear submarine K-500 from combat duty, official visits to China and South Korea.

In December 1998, the destroyer "Fast" due to the poor condition of some of the main boilers was transferred to the reserve of the 1st category. By the way, the unsatisfactory condition of the boiler house of the destroyer almost led to the death of the ship and its crew in September 2010.

For the sake of peace on the planet

In June 2013, "Quick" as part of the Oslyabya and Kalar spaceships took part in the military-historical "Memory Campaign" dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the 282th anniversary of the Pacific Fleet.

In May 2014, the Russian-Chinese exercise "Sea Interaction-2014" took place, which did not pass without the crew of the "Fast".

At the end of 2015, Russian-Indian exercises were held. As part of the detachment of Russian ships, there was also a destroyer "Fast".

The merits of the crew of the "Fast"

During the years of service, the destroyer "Fast" (Pacific Fleet), whose photo is presented above, was repeatedly noted by the Navy command as the best combat unit:

  • Following the results of 1991, the Navy Commander-in-Chief received the prize for excellent artillery fire at sea targets.
  • In September 1996, on the occasion of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Russian fleet, the crew of the "Fast" showed excellent preparation for missile firing. The result of the shooting was the second prize of the Commander-in-Chief.
  • At the end of 2013, the destroyer won the 1st place among the ships of 1, 2 ranks in the competition for the destruction of sea targets by rockets.
  • Summing up the results of 2014 brought the "Fast" prize of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy for the competent and effective use of weapons on the destroyer.
