The Church of the Resurrection of the Speaker in Danilovskaya Sloboda: address, schedule of services, shrines

Starting to describe the historical events of the emergence of this colorful landmark in Moscow, it should be noted that the Temple of the Resurrection of the Speaker in Danilovsky Sloboda is one of the pages of the history of the oldest St. Danilovsky Monastery, which is another holy pearl that you can tirelessly admire in the capital. This temple was founded approximately in 1270-1280 by the Grand Duke Daniel - one of the first Moscow princes, the ancestors of the Rurikovich dynasty and the son of Alexander Nevsky, whom the ROC canonized in 1791.

Daniel Stylites

The monastery was built in memory of the Monk Daniel Stylite - the holy heavenly patron of the Grand Duke Daniel Alexandrovich. In order to ensure the normal existence of the monastery, a number of peasant dwelling houses and farms, originally named the village of Danilovsky, were located nearby. Over time, this area has significantly expanded and was transformed into the Danilov Sloboda, which ran along the Moscow River.

Prince Daniel at one time took monasticism, lived in the monastery he built, there he introduced himself to the Lord and was buried in 1303.

Desolation

When the construction of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior was completed in the Moscow Kremlin, in 1330 Prince Ivan Kalita, most of the monks from the Danilov Monastery moved there. Since that moment the monastery has become empty and dilapidated, the time of oblivion has come. The temple of Daniel Stylites became parish (previously it belonged to the monastery), and over time a cemetery was formed around it. According to legend, one day Tsar Ivan the Terrible had a wonderful vision - he himself was Daniil Alexandrovich. After this event, the king began to rebuild the monastery again. In 1560 he was ready, however, to settle a little north of the former place.

Renewal

In 1699, a wealthy parishioner Vasiliev Fyodor singled out funds for the construction of the new church. In 1722, the main throne in honor of the holy husband of Daniel Stylite was no longer listed, since it was consecrated for the glory of the revival of the Church of the Resurrection of the Lord in Jerusalem by the saints Constantine and Helen in 355. Hence its name, the Resurrection of the Wordman, which contains the idea of the triumph of the revival of holy places, revered by Orthodox Christians. The remaining three limits were consecrated in honor of the revered Hebrew prophet St. Elijah, the apostles-evangelists Peter and Paul, St. Nicholas the Sinner.

New challenges

Now the existing Temple of the Resurrection of the Speaker in Danilovsky Sloboda was already built by 1837. Means for its erection were singled out by the owner of the Danilovskaya Manufactory I. N. Rybnikov according to the project of F. M. Shestakov.

The style of the structure determines the late Empire, in which the symmetrical axial composition predominates. Most of the buildings are made in the form of massive cubes. The north and south side of the temple is decorated with six-columned Ionic porticos and a dome with a high light rotunda. To the west is a refectory, and above the main entrance towers a three-tiered bell tower.

In addition to the three limits, a fourth was added to the refectory - in honor of St. John Chrysostom. In the summer of 1845, there was opened a women's almshouse, consisting of 12 nuns, and a parish school.

Closing

In 1917, the temple of the Resurrection of the Speaker in Danilovskaya Sloboda operated, along with the monks of the Danilovsky Monastery, cancer was transported with the relics of St. Daniel of Moscow. The temple was not touched until 1930, then it was closed down, all the church utensils were plundered, and the holy relics of the holy prince disappeared without a trace. Interior and chapters with crosses of the church were almost completely destroyed. The building itself was given to production facilities, where the Moscow Association for the production of umbrellas lasted the longest.

Time for a change

However, many decades later came the favorable times for the Danilovsky Monastery, which in 1985 was finally returned to the Russian Patriarchate, although for some time he still remained in the management of the factory. Formally, the Church of the Resurrection of the Scriber in Danilovskaya Sloboda began to operate only in 1989 after the consecration of the chapel in honor of St. Nicholas the Savior. Thanks to the care of the rector of the church, Archpriest Gennady Borozdin, the reconstruction and restoration of the church was completely completed in 1998, the historical appearance was restored to it, the imperial iconostasis was recreated and the murals were updated.

In mid-August 1998, the temple was consecrated by Patriarch Alexy II of Russia. In memory of these solemn events he presented a magnificent icon of St. Pitirim of Tambov.

Instead of an afterword

It remains to add that the history of the religion of Russia can not do without honoring this shrine, if only because the names of Nicholas the Wonderworker and John Chrysostom are associated with it. Notice, even Tsar Ivan IV the Terrible, and he believed, although, as it is believed today, he was atheist by nature. Thus, every believing parishioner should visit this unique place, as it not only gives insight in terms of historical events and development of Christianity in the Eastern European world, but also causes a sense of appeasement. And if you take into account the architecture, the temple can be attributed simply to the masterpieces.

Finally, the fulfillment of services will not leave anyone indifferent either because visitors are always open to access, and prayer, as is known, is a salvation from sin.
