The Caspian Sea: rest on the beach and balneological recovery

In the north-eastern Caucasus, along the southernmost cordons of the Republic of Dagestan, there is a unique sea - the Caspian Sea. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is the largest in the world of a no-drainage salt lake. It is called the sea because of its huge size, but also because of its origin: once this pond was part of the world ocean, that is, by the sea. But in the era of Alpine folding the Caucasian ridge was formed, which separated the Caspian from the Black Sea and, accordingly, from the ocean. Thus, the "juvenile" Caspian Sea was formed in the ancient language, in scientific terms. Rest on the shores of this lake-the sea will give unforgettable impressions, help to improve and bring a lot of positive emotions.

In general, the Republic of Dagestan has a rich recreational resource. There are mountains here (the highest point is Mount Bazarduzi - 4466 m above sea level), attracting mountaineers. Here rustle the rugged mountain rivers, convenient for rafting (for example, the river Sulak, which forms a very beautiful canyon in the Salatau ridge). There are interesting caves, attracting speleologists. But if we talk about rest on the Caspian Sea in Russia, we can not fail to mention the famous beaches of the Caspian Sea, stretching for many kilometers. So Kayakentsky, Samursky and Manas beaches have a length of more than 40 kilometers, and Makhachkala - about 80 km.

Unlike the Black Sea coast of Russia, where mostly pebble beaches are found, the shores of the Caspian Sea are covered with wonderful golden sand. In addition, this is a drainless salt lake smaller than the Black Sea: its average depth at the coast of Dagestan is 5 m, and the maximum is 25 m. Therefore, earlier of these two reservoirs, the Caspian Sea is warming up. Rest on the beaches of the Caspian Sea is possible from May to September inclusive, that is, the season lasts about 5 months.

Despite the fact that the climate, water temperature, and the beautiful coast provide opportunities for the development of tourism infrastructure in this region, many Russians undeservedly overlook the Caspian Sea. Resorts on its coast are known little, but all the same they are and, besides, giving the opportunity not only to sunbathe and buy, but also to improve their health. After all, the Caspian Sea is a juvenile sea, which means that innumerable natural resources are hidden in its depths.

So, 95 km from the capital of the Republic of Makhachkala is the sanatorium "Kayakent". This resort is considered balneological, although it is washed by the Caspian Sea. Rest in this sanatorium can also be used for the treatment of thermal mud and peat mud from Lake Dipsus, located nearby, and thermal mineral water. Healing baths, curing from various diseases, for example skin diseases, gynecological problems, as well as joint pain and many others, the resort guests take right in this lake. Also to the shore of the Caspian is another resort - Manas, located 25 km from the city of Izberbash. Here, various ailments are treated with iodide-bromine brines.

But not only the mineral waters and healing muds are rich in the Caspian Sea - rest on its coast gives an opportunity to get acquainted with cultural and historical sights. Derbent, located in the far south of Russia is a very ancient settlement and a famous historical center. It is located on the shore of the Caspian Sea. The history of the city is inextricably linked with the sea. By the way, according to local legends, the sea itself was named after the ancient cattle-breeding tribes of the Caspians, who inhabited the shores of this giant lake even before our era. In general, the Caspian Sea had more than 60 names. Ancient Rusich called him Khvalynsky or Khvalis, because merchants from Khorezm came to them for trading by sea. And the Arabs, Persians and Turks called the Caspian Sea Khazar Sea.
