The car "Quartet" - VAZ 2104

When creating a car VAZ 2104 (the so -called machine-four), the engineers of the Volga Automobile Plant primarily focused on two things - low market value and maximum practicality. As a result, they took the model 2105 as the basis, which, in fact, was a close relative of the Quartet. In order to make a sedan roomy wagon, the developers lengthened the roof and slightly changed the boot lid. All this provided an opportunity to install rails for extra luggage and, of course, increased salon space. Strange as it may seem, but the model from the eighties is still in great demand among motorists. Probably, the main trump card of VAZ 2104 is low price and unpretentiousness in service.

Dimensions and spaciousness of the car "Quartet"

The car was almost the same size as the "five". And its dimensions were as follows: length - 411 centimeters, width - 162 centimeters. Height - 144 centimeters. "Quartet" is a machine for those who wanted to extract the maximum benefit from it. In reality it was a small family truck. The people of the machine "Quartet" was nicknamed the best friend of the summer resident, since it housed up to 1,230 liters of luggage. When installing the steel trunk on the roof, the owners could transport the curbstones, refrigerators and even slate sheets.

Appearance

The design of the car was not very impressive. If you look at the car in profile, you can see an exact copy of the "two" (VAZ 2102 - also a station wagon, only from the seventies). In full-face, the car "Quartet" is the twin brother of the "five". And even the bumpers were similar to the "five". Therefore, a separate model of the "four" machine (the photo of it can be seen below) does not count. The only thing the designers have changed completely is the tailgate boot. Its brake lights have a vertical shape, and a miniature janitor flaunts on the window.

The machine "Quartet" and its technical characteristics

The car was supplied with many engines. It was both diesel and injector units. But still they could not gain such popularity as the carburetor four-cylinder engine with a capacity of sixty-four horsepower and a volume of 1294 cubic centimeters. It is these engines that can often be seen on the domestic "quartet". The station wagon was equipped with a manual gearbox for 4 steps.

Of course, 64 "horses" and a 4-speed transmission will not give the car sprint dynamics. From 0 to 100 kilometers per hour the car "four" was dispersed for eighteen and a half seconds. The peak speed was 137 kilometers per hour. As for fuel consumption, for the 21st century these figures can not be called economical - on the road the car spent about 7.5 liters, and in the mixed cycle this figure reached up to 10.2 liters.

Cost

In 2006, the Volga Automobile Plant announced the closure of the mass production of VAZ 2104 cars, so you can buy such copies only on the secondary market. The price for the "four" ranges from fifty to seventy thousand rubles.
