Unfortunately, after the military operations on its territory, the capital of Mozambique lost its former attractiveness, and its appearance became more repulsive. As for the population of the city, most of it belongs to the Bantu people. Also there are quite a lot of representatives of the Tsonga, ngoni and makua ethnoses. But, in addition to Africans, in the capital of Mozambique you can often see people from Asia and Portugal. More than half the inhabitants of Maputo are adherents of local rites and cults. Catholics make up about 35% of the capital's population, and Muslims - about 15%. The official language here is recognized as Portuguese, but in everyday life, the languages of local African nationalities and ethnic groups are also widely used.

The city can be divided into Upper and Lower. The lower town is located by the sea, both the buildings of the beginning of the 20th century, and quite modern urban constructions are located here. In the Upper Town you can see many hotels, mansions and various local attractions.

The most curious sights of Maputo include the station and the Museum of Natural History. The station, built in the early 20th century, was designed by Eiffel himself. Recently, large-scale repair work was carried out at the station, after which it began to resemble a palace whose vaults are crowned by a huge, ornate dome. The museum of history can boast of interesting exhibits, which are archaeological finds dating back to the time of man's appearance. In addition, the museum has curious exhibits telling about the resources and nature of Mozambique.

The capital of Mozambique boasts a picturesque botanical garden, in which you can enjoy the beautiful nature, for a while, abandoning the city's bustle. Maputo is a unique and harmonious combination of a wide variety of cultures: Portuguese, Indian and Chinese. Such a variety could not but affect the local cuisine. In addition to the traditional dishes inherent in each of these cultures, you can taste delicious Arabic dishes, as well as seafood for every taste.
