In the fall of 2001, the grand opening of a new pedestrian bridge that connected Rostov and Berezhkovo embankments took place. At the heart of this design was used the arch of 1907, which was designed by LD Proskuryakov. Bearing structure weighs about 1400 tons, has a length of 135 meters. Originally, the bridge was named Kiev, as it is located in close proximity to the railway station of the same name. The arched structure is completely covered with a glass hood and has wide panoramic windows. The completion of the supporting structure was also carried out. The modern bridge has reinforced concrete foundations laid out in the river bed, which in its width exceed the arch. The updated design is in yellow-green color scheme. Bogdan Khmelnitsky received his modern name in 2004.
