Swollen eyelids, or tragedy in the morning

Swollen eyelids - a fairly common phenomenon in our days. Probably, every man at least once in his life experienced this condition on himself. Why do my eyelids swell up? The reasons for this unpleasant condition are a great many: these are kidney diseases, and allergic reactions, and even the inflammatory process in the ages themselves.

Having woken up in the morning with eyes that look like a failed surreal sketch of a beginner painter, the last thing you want to know is the reason that caused this squalor. The instinctive desire of every person, who suffered such an unenviable fate in working days, is to get rid of puffiness as quickly as possible and regain his former normal appearance. Some individuals (more often female) diligently lubricate their swollen eyelids with ice slices or make a contrast compress for eyelids, every two to three minutes alternating cold and hot lotions. Others in this case plague all the tea bags in the house, applying a thick layer of them one by one to their unfortunate, swollen eyelids. In principle, these are the most effective ways, which at the moment can be used by any person without exception. But this is only if this condition is not a consequence of serious diseases occurring inside the body.

If someone with a similar problem suddenly has a crazy idea to take a diuretic drug to "expel" edema from his eyelids, then he should be warned immediately, because this is an unsafe method of fighting unstable swelling. Yes, these funds perfectly remove excess fluid from the body. An hour after receiving a quarter of furosemide in a healthy person from morning swelling, there will be no trace of the eyelids. However, this is fraught with serious health consequences. One of the side effects of taking even a small amount of diuretics will be frequent urination. It can overtake a drunk tablet at any time that is not suitable for such actions. For example, if you take a diuretic tablet in the morning, then this moment will come just during the road to work. It will be necessary to show great ingenuity in order to find in their daily morning route a place to do "wet" business. Therefore, do not take risks with taking difficult-to-control medicines, it is better to consult with a specialist about this in advance.

All this was related to morning swelling, which, as a rule, is always symmetrical. It is quite another matter if the upper eyelid is swollen. What to do in this situation? In this case, you need to seek the help of a professional ophthalmologist. The reasons for the local swelling of the eyelids can be several. One of them is the sharply sprung barley on the eye. It occurs when the overall immunity decreases, when the body as a whole is weakened. In this case, one or more meibomian glands, which are located on the inner side of the eyelid, become inflamed. At home, barley is treated with heat: a hot wrapped egg or a spoon, ironed towel, etc. However, this can be done if there is no evidence of suppuration. In cases where barley becomes purulent, heat is contraindicated. Another cause of unilateral damage to the eyelids can be a bite of an insect. This swelling goes away on its own several days after the bite. The main thing is not to scratch the swollen eyelids, so as not to aggravate the process with eczematous combs, which may well become infected. And the last factor, which can cause swelling of only one century, is a contact allergic reaction. This is often the case with intolerance of some cosmetic products applied on the eyelids, or the ingress of foreign chemical agents, glue, for example. Such eye must be rinsed immediately with running water. The patient should drink an antihistamine and see an ophthalmologist.
