The industry of smart watches did not become as popular as it was supposed to be. Apparently, it will take a lot of effort to make such a product successful.

Cooperation of the Silicon Valley and Switzerland

Despite the complex situation of the industry, cooperation was created between inventors from the Silicon Valley and manufacturers of traditional watches from Switzerland. It is based on the MMT module, or technological module, which involves the production of "smart" watches in the rulers from such proven masters of watchmaking as Mondaine or Alpine. Among the partners of inventors - and the company Frederique Constant. In cooperation, there was a break, when the company was swallowed up by a larger producer, Citizen. Nevertheless, at the moment, the company has a new guide, planning to return to the production plans a line of "smart" hours. This will be the first line from the Swiss watchmakers, updated and improved. Very soon the first models will be presented to the public.

Calls and notifications without a digital display

The first generation of "smart" watches with an innovative module is capable of much: watches track owner's movements, his sleep and activity level, and also allow receiving incoming calls and notification messages. However, there are no digital displays, so the information is displayed with the hour and minute hands, and also with the help of vibration. For example, if you press a special button, the minute hand indicates the icon of the person walking on the dial, and the hour hand indicates what percentage of daily activity is performed. Calls and text messages are displayed by vibration and indication of the corresponding icon. The dial is created in a special way so as not to be overloaded and at the same time display all the necessary information.

New design solutions

Peter Stas, the head of the company Frederick Constant, said that for the "smart" hours, nine new unique designs were developed, five of which were created for women and four for men. The cost of the watch ranges from six hundred to a thousand dollars, which allows the buyer to make a choice, unlike most "smart" models from developers in the Silicon Valley. The focus of the Swiss is the creation of a beautiful watch design. That's why the novelty has a classic dial, exquisite hands and symbols, handmade details. Design should be diverse, so that people with different tastes can choose their ideal option and not look like everyone else. No one would have liked that all his colleagues go in the same shirts and shoes. The same applies to watches - this is something very personal, more significant than clothing.

The company, famous for producing watches with an excellent design and affordable price, is likely to attract the attention of those who wanted to have a traditional watch, rather than fans of gadgets. If Frederick Constant and other watch manufacturers can convince their customers of the need for "smart" functions in the usual design, the watch industry can be more successful than Apple's watch makers. Their versions of the gadget are also offered by such brands as Withings and Fossil. Probably, soon there will be other novelties. The thing is that the digital display does not attract those who are planning to buy a traditional watch. For them, a completely different design is important. Market research and many years of sales experience show that physical design is the main reason for choosing traditional watches. People just want to wear a beautiful product on the wrist. Of course, one can argue about tastes. Someone prefers a beautiful gold chain and small figures on the dial, and someone - sports models with many different indicators. In any case, rarely a leader is a simple digital display. Details about the design of new "smart" watches from Swiss manufacturers are still a secret. When sales begin, Frederick Constantine will have fifteen smart watches, much more than any other manufacturer.
