Sugary substitutes benefit and harm

Probably everyone is interested to know what sugar substitutes are, the benefits and harm to which many are unknown.

Sugary substitute is a substance of chemical origin that is able to give a sweet taste to those products that do not contain natural sugar (fructose and glucose), and also does not include calories. It is for this reason that products that include sugar substitutes are called dietary.

It is commonly believed that invented sugar substitutes by the well-known chemist - Falberg. He learned about their existence by accident. Once, having returned home from his laboratory, Falberg, without washing his hands, sat down to supper. A piece of bread, which he bit off, turned out to be sweet. After that, he returned to the laboratory and checked the substances with which he worked. So he realized that in nature there is a synthetic sugar.

It is known that a number of sugar substitutes are used in the production of various beverages, chocolate bars and chewing gums.

Since they came into being, the debate about how these same sweeteners operate, the benefits and harms of which have been studied to this day, have not subsided yet. To say that they only harm our health is impossible, since among their large number there are also quite innocuous representatives.

To date, the most popular are the following substitutes: saccharin (or E954), xylitol (or E967), aspartame (or E951), cyclamate (or E952). All of them are many times sweeter than sugar.

Everyone knows that in artificial sugar there are no calories. In addition, he rescues people with diabetes: when a normal product is consumed in the blood of a diabetic, the sugar level rises sharply, therefore, insulin rises and the person begins to gain weight quickly. But the harm of sugar replacers still takes place: the one who used the substitute with food does not receive the necessary carbohydrates, which inevitably leads to a sharp increase in appetite due to carbon starvation. Thus, the body will require food until the sugar level is normal.

Sugary substitutes: benefit and harm. It is important for each of us to know that a certain dose of a substitute can cause serious complications (severe poisoning, blindness, intoxication) or even death if the dose is too high. There are cases when, as a result of long-term administration of such substances, the human brain destruction processes began. It should be noted that there are natural and synthetic sugar substitutes. Synthetic - these are the ones that are obtained artificially, which is why they have fewer calories. But they have a side effect - they excite appetite. Therefore, one should think carefully about whether it is worth to give up the sweet and to replace sugar with its synthetic substitutes. These include aspartame, saccharine, sucrasite and many others.

Natural sweeteners, the benefits and harms of which have long been known, as well as the real product, contain calories, but they are much more useful. These include xylitol, sorbitol, fructose and even honey. Fructose is a common natural substitute for sugar, in large quantities it is found in berries, fruits and some vegetables. Especially it is useful for diabetics.

To avoid the use of the above substances, it is important to carefully read the composition of all products, it is listed on the label. It should be noted that most food producers use sugar substitutes. The damage to the health of the consumer, of course, does not bother them, since they are much cheaper to manage than natural sugar.

Everyone is free to decide for himself what to use. Always remember that regular sugar will not hurt your health as much as its substitutes.
