Stucco walls on lighthouses with their own hands

When building various buildings and structures, no matter how accurate the construction works are, there are always minor defects in terms of geometric inconsistency. The most common flaws are uneven walls or curvature of corners. They can be hidden by applying plaster mixtures.

In order to properly plaster the walls, you need to set the beacons - the rules-racks, with which the level of plaster is exposed. It is the installation of plaster beacons that makes it possible to obtain ideally even walls. Stucco walls on beacons are one of the most practical, time-tested methods, which almost 100% guarantee the quality and evenness of the rendered plaster surface. Thanks to modern construction technologies, it is constantly being improved and becoming more popular.

Before proceeding to the plastering of the walls, it is necessary to properly prepare their surface, clearing it of unevenness or building dust that formed during construction and installation works.

Stucco walls on beacons require mandatory priming of the surface. Its main purpose is to give the walls the necessary roughness, which will ensure good adhesion of the surface of the wall and plaster. When working with concrete walls, you can use the usual acrylic primer, but it is best in this case suitable concrete contact.

Next is the installation of beacons for plastering. By traditional technologies, metal beacons are used. As a rule, their length is about 3 meters with a width of 6 mm to 1 cm. The orientation for installing beacons is a wall with a window opening, since this place in the room most corresponds to geometric parameters with respect to the other surfaces.

Installation of plaster beacons can be carried out by two methods:

  • Using a cord;
  • With the help of a laser.

In the first case, even a small error in installation can lead to problems in the performance of finishing works. If you use a laser, the plastering of the walls along the lighthouses will pass without the slightest difficulty.

The standard technology for installing beacons is as follows. Using the level on the wall draws a vertical mark. Then the plaster mixture is prepared . It can be both a cement-sand composition, and a composition based on gypsum.

To install beacons you will need:

  • Rule from 2 to 2.5 meters long;
  • level;
  • Metal profiles;
  • cord.

Using the level, the vertical curvature of the wall is established. Further, using a plaster shovel or an ordinary trowel, small slides with a distance from 20 to 25 cm are laid out along the marked line. Then a metal beacon is applied to these slides and pressed against the wall. Please note that the layer of the plaster mixture should be at least two centimeters.

To plaster the walls of the lighthouses was without much difficulty, you can install self-tapping screws, putting them on a plumb line. First screw the upper screw, and then lower. A place for him can be found with the help of a load, dropping it down. If the rule does not reach the top self-tapping screw, twist the extra screw between them.

If necessary, intermediate beacons, take the cord and stretch it along the already exposed metal profiles horizontally. If you use a rule of 2.5 meters in length, then the distance should be about 2 meters.

At this interval, install the screws so that they barely touch the cord. Thus, you will get a perfectly flat surface of the wall both horizontally and vertically.

Now you can start plastering the walls between the profiles. Please note that the thick layer must be applied in several steps. The alignment of the wall surface is carried out using the rule. In this case, it is not necessary to overwrite the installed metal beacons.

After setting the stucco mixture, beacons must be removed, because with an increased level of humidity and poor air circulation in the room, they can rust and damage the wallpaper and putty.
