Stitches of brickwork: it is necessary, because it is beautiful

When building a brick wall, the builder always knows where to start the work and how to finish it. The final stage here is the grouting of the brickwork. On the strength of the wall, this operation does not affect. Its goal - to give the structure a more complete and aesthetic appearance. If the wall is subsequently plastered, there is no reason to perform the screed.

When building is not always the rule "strike the iron, while hot." So is the jointing of masonry made of bricks. With her advised not to hurry, although there are tips to start this operation immediately when building a wall. Still have to wait a while, so that the brick fixing the mortar began to set. From time to time, you need to check his condition, conditionally called "thumb test." If the solution easily lends itself under it - the term of the barking has not come yet.

When laying a brick wall, make sure that the seam is evenly dense, do not leave any voids. The solution is put in excess, which is cut with a trowel so that it is flush with the material.

The tool for jointing this method is very simple. It can be a wooden stick or a piece of rubber hose. By their diameter, they should be slightly smaller than the width of the seam. The operation on the bar is also simple. Each seam should be smoothed and pressed into the groove approximately 2 mm. In addition to the harmonious appearance of the wall, when sealing the mortar, its adhesion to the brick is improved. At the corners of the building, the tool is pressed into the seam towards the masonry. If the fresh solution is joined to the already dried, it is necessary to move from fresh to frozen.
And what about the old wall? After all, in the old days, the seaming of brickwork was not practiced - it was considered unnecessary by unnecessary extravagance and waste of working time. Well, if you want the old brick building literally transformed, you'll have to sweat.

First you need to clean the seams by hollowing out the solution from them. It is best to use a cone-shaped solid wood rod for this. If the old solution does not give way, you will have to resort to the services of a metal chisel. Although it is not recommended to use it because of the danger of damage to the masonry, especially if the bricks in it are old and rough. Work with caution.

The sutures of the old masonry are cleaned to a depth of 15-20 mm. After that it is necessary to clear the facade from the traces of solution and dust with a high-pressure jet device and / or a rigid brush.

Before the fusion of the masonry joints is begun, the latter must be wetted with water in order for the fresh mortar to firmly adhere to the old, already dried, and also with the material. If the day is hot and sunny, the area where the old masonry is being cut can be obscured. If it's damp and rainy, such work should not be done at all.

For such an embroidery it is better to use a ready-made mortar sold in specialized stores. It should be diluted with the amount of water indicated on the package and thoroughly stirred until the earth-wet state is reached. The solution can be prepared on its own, however, it is necessary to maintain the ratio of the components clearly.

The ready-made mortar is laid for convenience of work on the tin falcon and filled with hollowed grooves. In the future, the jointing of the brickwork of the old structure is no different from a similar operation with a wall just erected. At the end of the procedure, the wall is swept with a soft brush diagonally to clean it of the remnants of the solution.
