Single-paned glass and its applications

As you know, single-chamber glass is the simplest, inexpensive and common among other types of insulating glass. The basis of its design - two glasses and one air chamber. A special remote frame carries the glass a certain distance, which in most cases is between 0.6 and 1.8 centimeters. This distinction is necessary in order for a single-compartment glass unit to reduce heat exchange with the external environment. As for glass, its thickness in most cases does not exceed 4 millimeters. However, the thermal conductivity index directly depends on the thickness of the glass, and the dependence here is directly proportional. In this regard, one can meet glass with a thickness of 3 and 6 millimeters.

Standard single-chamber double-glazed windows are two glasses (each thickness is 4 millimeters), separated by 16 millimeters with the help of a spacer frame. As a result, the total thickness is a summation of the three indicated values - 24 millimeters.

When choosing a double-glazed window, it should be borne in mind that the number of cameras is one of the key criteria. Thus, in the central band, installation of single-chamber window solutions is not allowed at all - they do not match the thermal characteristics. Of course, there are also single-chamber energy-saving double-glazed windows - their use can be expedient. The main advantage of the window systems under consideration is a low cost, especially since in a number of situations, their installation fully justifies itself.

First of all it concerns glazing of loggias and balconies. This approach can be beautiful and practical, especially since the installation of sliding aluminum glazing is not available to everyone due to the high cost and many inconveniences associated with further exploitation. Of course, in this case a loggia or a balcony can not be considered as a full-fledged residential building (redevelopment involves the installation of double-glazed windows with a large number of chambers, as well as additional measures to ensure reliable thermal insulation). Moreover, the installation of thick heavy-duty double-glazed windows requires changing the structure of the balcony itself (for example, by thickening the parapet near the brickwork). To protect the balcony or loggia from external influences, a single-compartment glass unit is the optimal solution.

Often the glass unit is used in so-called summer houses. This window will provide a comfortable temperature regime in spring, summer and autumn - that is, throughout the whole summer season. While the single-compartment double-glazed window is practically the same as the wooden window, it will be a much more effective investment - due to a long service life, aesthetics, functionality, the opportunity to do without additional maintenance. It should also be noted that in southern regions with warm winter, single-chamber solutions can be used without restrictions on any objects, including multi-apartment houses.
