Stavropol State Agrarian University is one of the leading agricultural universities in the Russian Federation. Formed in the heart of the North Caucasus - the city of Stavropol - he became the forge of cadres for the entire region. History

For more than 80 years of history, the Stavropol State University has come a long way from a small highly specialized Moscow Sheep Institute to a multi-disciplinary institution providing modern knowledge in the fields of agronomy, livestock, land use, veterinary medicine, and economics.

The birthday of the institution is October 14, 1932: during this period, the Moscow Sheep Institute, which was established on September 1, 1930 on the basis of the Moscow Zootechnical Institute, moves to provincial Stavropol from the capital. At that time the Stavropol Territory supplied up to 40% fine wool produced in the USSR.

A year later, the organization was consolidated through the accession of the North Caucasian Pig Institute and the meat and dairy department of the Taganrog Agricultural Institute. The institution received a new name - the North Caucasian Institute of Zootechnics. Later, the State Agrarian University (Stavropol State Agrarian University) repeatedly changed its structure and names, new branches were opened, and scientific work was conducted (and conducted).

Employees, post-graduate students and students pass foreign internships in the units of companies that produce agricultural machinery: Klaas (Germany), John Deere (USA), Difco (Netherlands). Stavropol State Agrarian University strives to retain the whole staff even in the financial and economic crisis, encourages the creation of innovative small enterprises. Today, the university employs 15 mini-companies, created by the university staff, and 6 research and production and scientific and technical centers.

The university teaches almost all the specialties required in agriculture. In addition to basic disciplines, livestock and agronomy, specialists in economics and management are preparing. The international cooperation

An indispensable condition for the university's competitiveness in the labor market and education is the preservation and development of identity. Proceeding from this, the Stavropol State University determines for itself a list of priorities, the most important of which is cooperation with European colleagues.

Important for the university are joint programs with the European Business Education Council. Students of German, Italian, Polish and Czech students study at StGAU. Documents are being prepared for the international accreditation of bachelor's programs (in economics and management) and the master's degree (in international economics, rural development management, agrotourism, international business). The accreditation of the German FIBAA Foundation prepares MBA programs.

Material base

Another factor of development is the availability of a modern material and technical base. Participation in 2007-2008 in the national project "Education" allowed the university to strengthen the material, technical, laboratory and other bases. The Stavropol State Agrarian University has acquired modern means of measurement and control. In recent years, 48 innovative structural units have been created. For them, laboratory equipment worth 450 million rubles was purchased, own own software was developed and the best program and methodical support was purchased for 45 million rubles.

Modern technologies

There are 48 computer classes in StGAU. Lectures are conducted using modern multimedia tools, including document cameras and interactive tablets. Stavropol State Agrarian University is interested in employment of graduates and their early adaptation to professional activity. Relations are developing with industry enterprises and organizations, with former students of the State Agrarian University. There is a club of alumni, career days are held. Vocational guidance goes during student practice.

An information system is being created that provides graduates with information about vacancies. To ensure the possibility of continuing education, STAU offers programs for additional vocational education, retraining, advanced training, reduced-curriculum, distance, correspondence and external studies. The list of programs is determined by the results of marketing research, including comprehensive market research, analysis and forecast of the market, wishes and satisfaction of consumers (students, employers, members of the public).

Development

In 2011, the construction of an eleven-story student hostel with an area of 16,000 m 2 was completed . Students and graduate students received comfortable living conditions, self-study rooms with computers and Internet, sports and gyms, a canteen for 200 seats and a cafe for 120 visitors. Also in the new building there is a conference hall, sanitary and medical services. The total cost of the project is 400 million rubles.

In 2013, the educational laboratory and library complex for the Agronomic Faculty and the Faculty of Plant Protection was introduced. The total area of the buildings is 23,600 m 2 . Equipped with modern equipment, the laboratories occupied a large part of the site - 16,500 m 2 . At the same time, 2320 students will be able to study in the buildings, each with almost 14 m 2 . In addition to the auditoriums and laboratories in the building there is a library for 450 seats. The infrastructure is complemented by the media center and four reading rooms of the electronic library with 240 seats. In addition, the new building accommodates three conference halls with 500 seats and an assembly hall for 960 people.
