Sporty Porsche 944
Once the Porsche 924 broke the record for the number of sales. But still from the 70's interest in this model began to subside. Therefore, the company began to look for a new concept under the leadership of Peter Schultz.
At that time, Porsche was developing a new engine for the turbo 924. In this case, instead of a 4-cylinder engine, we wanted to put it in the 6th row, which unfortunately did not fit under the hood of the car because of its size. Therefore, in the Porsche 944 began to install the engine from the 928th model. It was an engine made of aluminum alloy with a volume of 2,400 liters. Such an assembly eliminated the defects of the 924th model by means of two shafts. They compensated for the vibrations and ensured a smooth and smooth movement.
The maximum possible speed of the Porsche 944 is 260 kilometers per hour. Also this car perfectly behaved at long distances. The shape of the body of the car contributed to the reduction of wind resistance and noise at high speed, and a special streamlined bottom provided stability during the movement.
In 1988, the Porsche 944 Turbo S appeared on sale. It featured a more powerful 250 hp engine and a different body color. It was an exclusive model and it was planned to produce 1,000 copies. However, this series was so widely approved that soon Turbo S started to be released for racing. And the buyers are not particularly pleased.
The new Porsche 944 S2 could be considered a sports car thanks to an efficient temperature-lowering system from the TAG-formula one, 16-inch wheels, stability stabilizers and trouble-free braking system. The limiting speed of this car reached 240 kilometers per hour, and when overclocked to hundreds of its engine volume of 2,500 liters ahead of the engine Porsche 944 for one second.
