Sarcosoma globosum is a barrel-shaped apothecia (or fruiting bodies) filled with a transparent viscous liquid. Apothecia can be round, ovoid, cylindrical up to 6 cm in diameter and 10 cm in height, but some grow much larger than the indicated sizes. The fungus of the sarcosome is spherical (photo is presented in the article) of dark brown or brown color. The surface of young mushrooms is smooth, in mature - velvety, in aging - dry and wrinkled. Above is a disk that covers the inner fluid. It is shiny, smooth or slightly concave, very dark, almost black in color. From the lower part of the fungus, the root filaments extend a few centimeters long.

Internal liquid - odorless with neutral taste. Mushroom sarcosome globular is valued precisely for this liquid, which is used as a medicine. As studies have shown, it contains various sugars. They need a fungus in order to create pressure inside the apothecium and throw out the ripening spores with a powerful pressure. The release occurs every 2-3 minutes, and massively, with a lot of pressure. As you eject, the amount of fluid decreases, and the spherical sarcosome becomes a wrinkled black plate. Fruiting always occurs in the spring, in April - May, sometimes even from under the snow.

Scattered spores germinate and then die, because they need special conditions. The sarcosome globular grows only on moss litter and in areas far from civilization. If the dispute has got into the depths of moss, then under favorable conditions it develops, and in a few years a new fungus grows. Sometimes disputes are kept for years or even decades, that's why scientists note the periodicity of growth on the same sites with an interval of 10-12 years.
