Ros: the river in Central Ukraine. Recreation, fishing, attractions

Ros - a river in Central Ukraine, carrying its waters to the Dnieper. Some researchers believe that it is from the name of this Ukrainian river that the word "Rus" occurs. What can attract Ros of travelers and tourists? The pond is excellent for fishing and outdoor activities. In addition, on its shores there are a large number of attractions and scenic spots.

Ros originates from the village of Odintsi in Vinnytsia. Then it overcomes 345 kilometers of the Dnieper Upland and flows into the Dnieper near the village of Khreshchatyk, Cherkasy region. The total area of the river basin is 12.5 thousand km2. The largest tributaries are Molochnaya, Torts, Kotlui, Orekhovatka, Rostavitsa, Rosava, Kamenka.

Ros - a river, from the name of which many historians derive the word "Rus". It was on its shores that the ancient tribes of glades and Rusich lived. By the way, in the annals, along with the name "Ros", the river is also often called "Red", which means "beautiful".

The river valley has one interesting feature: almost all along its right slope is much higher and steeper than the left one. In many areas the channel of the reservoir is crossed by the outcrops of solid crystalline rocks. In such places, beautiful rapids and small waterfalls formed.

The largest settlements that the river Ros pass on their way: the White Church, Pogrebishche, Rokytnoye, Boguslav, Korsun-Shevchenkovsky. On its shores there are dozens of villages with a long history.

Fishing and outdoor activities

The Ros River is one of the most picturesque on the territory of Ukraine. On its banks you can see beautiful pine forests, grandiose granite rocks, ancient wooden churches, water mills laid out of blocks of granite.

The riverbed is ideal for organizing water walks and sports alloys on kayaks. The beaches will please vacationers with picturesque landscapes, clean beaches and convenient parking places.

Fishing on the river Ros also leaves a lot of positive emotions. In its waters, there are about 40 species of fish. The most common among them - oatmeal, staking, roach, dace and rudd. Less common is catfish, carp, loach, pike and bream. In the ponds and artificial reservoirs, there is a silver carp and a white cupid.

To hope for a large catch, you should move away from cities or large settlements, where fish have recently become less.

The Ros River is not only fishing and beach rest. On its shores there are many historical, cultural and architectural monuments. Most of them are concentrated in three cities, which will be discussed later.

White church

The White Church is the first city in the flow. True, initially he had a different name - Yuriev. The city was founded in 1032 by the prince Yaroslav the Wise himself. Here the Castle Hill was preserved, which was and remains the historical core of this settlement. True, the castle is no longer there.

The White Church is known for the largest in Ukraine dendrological park "Alexandria". It was founded in the 18th century by Count Xavier Brannitsky and named him by the name of his wife. The park is decorated with numerous ponds, cascades, bridges and sculptures.

Among the other famous sights of the city is the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral built in 1839, the church of John the Baptist (1812), the shopping arcade, Taubin's mansion. Several blocks of the old building of the city with dozens of Jewish houses of the XIX-XX centuries have survived.

Bohuslav

Below the river there is another remarkable city - Boguslav. It was founded in the same distant 1032 year. Famous natives of this city are Marousia Boguslavka (Ukrainian folk heroine), as well as Ivan Soshenko (a close friend of Taras Shevchenko).

There are many tourist sites in Boguslav. It is a massive monument to Marusa Bohuslavka, Holy Trinity Church in classical style, the memorial museum of Soshenka and others. Of great interest is the "Yama" tract, located on Rosi. This is an impressive river canyon with steep granite shores and a cozy beach.

Korsun-Shevchenkovskiy

Previously, this glorious city in the Cherkasy region was called simply - Korsun. But in the Soviet times to his name they decided to add a prefix "Shevchenko" so that no one would forget that it was in these parts that the great Ukrainian poet was born.

In Korsun-Shevchenkovsky tourists are not yet in a hurry to come. However for many travelers this city becomes a real discovery. Picturesque shores of Rosi, pine forests with clean air, flooded granite quarries - all this creates wonderful conditions for recreation. In Korsun, there is also a complex of buildings of the Lopukhin Manor (18th century) with a park.

Ros - a river that flows within the Right-Bank Ukraine. It carries its waters through the territory of three regions: Vinnitsa, Kiev and Cherkassy, eventually falling into the mighty Dnieper.

The river and its banks are characterized by significant recreational, as well as tourist resources. It is wonderfully suitable for beach recreation, fishing and organizing water walks and sports alloys. Along the river there are interesting cities (Belaya Tserkov, Boguslav, Korsun) with numerous historical, cultural and architectural monuments.
