Ringworm in humans: symptoms and treatment

The defeat of skin or scalp fungi, which causes an acute infectious disease, is ringworm in humans. Symptoms of this infection are manifested, unfortunately, not immediately. As a rule, it takes more than a month from infection to the first rash. And in connection with the fact that fungal spores are very tenacious, this kind of lichen is considered one of the most easily transmitted and difficult to cure. Doctors call this disease microsporia, or trichophytosis.

Ringworm in humans: symptoms, complications and treatment

There are two ways of infection with microsporia. In the first case, the source of the disease is animals. Doctors noted that small kittens without visual signs of the disease can still be its carriers. Close contact with them can cause ringworm in humans. Symptoms, when infection occurs from animals, can be more aggressive than when infected from a person. In addition to the rash, the general condition of the patient is complicated by increased temperature, increased lymph nodes, pain in the head and unbearable itching.

So, we already know that a person who has become infected for a long time can not guess about it. At the risk of infection is all of his environment. Spores of mushrooms are quickly transferred from the patient to healthy people through common household items.

Whatever the way of infection, after a while on the skin there is a spot that is localized on any part of the body or head. Ringworm (photo) in humans, depending on the shade of their skin, can be of different colors. It is pink, red, purple and gray. The spot is round or oval in shape, with a clearly defined outline. Inside it is roughened, slightly paler than the color of the contour.

After a while, a rash appears on other parts of the body. It looks much smaller in diameter, sometimes resembling a bite of a midges or a mosquito.

When the primary spot is localized on the scalp, it prevents timely diagnosis of the disease. A person can learn about it only when the fungus has cut off the hairs under the root, forming a bald patch. In such cases, immediate treatment is required from a specialist who is not limited to ointments for external use only. If the ringworm is located on the head of a person , it is often necessary to part with your hairdo. While for men, such a need is not a great experience, for women it's just the terrible consequences of the disease.

How to treat ringworm in humans?

The appointment of a treatment regimen should be made by a dermatologist after confirmation of the diagnosis. Typically, therapy begins with the fact that around the spots shaved hair. This is done so that the fungus can not cling to nearby hairs and increase the area of the lesion. Further, twice a day, simple procedures are performed. Lubricating is done by depriving iodine solution diluted in half with alcohol or vodka. And to treat lichen it is necessary, beginning from its edges (grasping on 0,5 sm of a healthy skin), finishing a point on the center of a stain. After that, an antifungal preparation is used in the form of an ointment. Thus, in three months you can cure ringworm from people. Symptoms of its manifestation go much earlier, but the procedure still should not be canceled independently.
