Righteous Long-suffering Job: who is this and what is he famous for?

The mention of the martyr is in different biblical tales. Thus, stories about the righteous can be found in the Epistle of the Apostle James. But more complete information is contained in the biblical book of Job.

The Life of the Martyr

The entire fate of our character describes the Old Testament. The book says that it was a man who moves away from evil, just, unblemished and God-fearing. He had a wife, three daughters and seven sons. The long-suffering Job had wealth and a happy family. Satan paid close attention to such success. He persuaded God in the unrighteous piety of Job, saying that if he did not have such a family and wealth, he would not be so innocent. If you take this earthly happiness, you can see the true nature of this person. God decided to give Satan an opportunity to test it with various tests and temptations. He wanted to see the purity and sinlessness of Job. As agreed, Satan at once selected children, and then wealth. Seeing that man remained faithful to God and unshakable, he added to him even more suffering in the form of a terrible leprosy that covered his whole body. The long-suffering Job became an outcast. This caused him to leave the city, he had to constantly scrape off scabs from all over the body, while being in mud and manure. When she saw how her husband was suffering, the wife claimed that she had to stop believing in God and renouncing it. Then, as punishment, Job will die. In response, the righteous said that when God gives us happiness, joy comes to our lives. We accept such a gift, but in the same way we must accept the misfortunes that have been sent to us. The long-suffering Job endured with patience all the bad weather, continuing with the same strength and further faith in God. At the same time he did not even allow evil thoughts or reproaches towards his creator. Job had many friends who, upon learning of his agony, at first simply silently sympathized with the poor fellow. But then they came and began to seek excuses for such grief in his past. They believed that a person must suffer for previous sins. They began to talk about his faults before God and that now he must repent for his misdeeds. After all, nothing goes unpunished. But Saint Job the Long-suffering was pure before God and, even experiencing such torments, did not drop a single word of murmur in his direction. He tried to explain to friends that he had no sins and suffered such suffering because the Lord in his own way, unattainable for man's reason, alone gives a happy fate, and the other - a test. To convince them it did not happen. In response, they said that Job presents his punishment as undeserved, as he tries to justify himself and proves his innocence. After such a conversation, the righteous in prayer asked God for proof of his innocence, so that his friends would believe him. Soon the Lord appeared in front of him in the form of a violent whirlwind. God pointed to his requests as bold and presumptuous, because Job required a report. The Lord said that for people there is much that is incomprehensible in peacemaking, the creation of all living things, and the desire to learn the true reasons why some live happily and others in torment, to know the mystery of fate pre-svelte, is simply not given to an ordinary person.

Healing the Martyr

Soon the Long-suffering Job began to recover and make more prosperity. After all the torments suffered, the Lord blessed him, giving him three daughters and seven sons again. Job saw four generations of his offspring, having lived another 140 years (in the Old Testament it is said that in total he lived 248 years). This example taught friends to fear only the sword of the Lord, and deprivation of earthly goods and bodily agony can be sustained.

Western philosophy

Seren Kierkegaard was a Christian thinker and expressed his opinion that there is much more wisdom in Job's actions than in all the works of Hegel. He compared the knowledge of the will of God with the martyr with the construction of the thoughts of many great philosophers. In particular, and Socrates, who was sincerely convinced of the power of the human mind. Modern philosophers, such as Lev Shestov, interpret the story of Job from the point of view of irrationalism.

Muslim holy book

The Quran describes Job as the prophet Ayyub - persecuted and dejected. There is an opinion that the righteous Job long suffering was the forefather of the ancient Romans. On the territory of states, the main religion of which is Islam, there were many cities in which supposedly was the tomb of Job. This is Salalah in Oman, Syrian Dair Ayyub, a village near the town of Ramla, a mausoleum in Bukhara Chashma-Ayub, in Turkey - the former Edessa.

Russian Modern Philosophy

Political and religious philosopher Nikolai Berdyaev believes that such an example of a martyr denies the Jews' opinion that for sinless behavior a person should be awarded during his lifetime. At the same time, all the problems that fall on the shoulders of a person are punishments for his sins, God's wrath, testifying to the rejection of the suffering and righteous from the right path. According to this philosopher, humanity simply can not understand the very essence of innocent suffering. People can not refuse in any way the expediency of everything that is happening in the world around them. Many are convinced that if there is a penalty for imperfect sins, then God simply does not exist, as there is no God's providence either.

Erection of the church

In Sarov, not far from the city cemetery, in October 2008, began to build the wooden parish temple of Job the Long-suffering. At the base of the altar, a solemn laying of the stone was made. This event was attended by Arzamas and Nizhny Novgorod Archbishop Bishop George. Further, the Temple of Job was built much more slowly, with the difficulties associated with the rapid development of the economic crisis in 2009. 2010 was a period when a lot of economic issues were solved, such as interior decoration and insulation, fire alarms and electrical networks. The most important was the manufacture of domes. The first cross was consecrated in 2011, on April 22. Three days later, the first Divine Liturgy was held. The next one took place on May 19 - in honor of the First Patronal Feast. On June 28, the Temple of Job of the Long-suffering (Sarov) was consecrated by Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas.
