Frenchman Louis Leterrier (director of The Illusion of Deception) began his career in Hollywood, collaborating with Luc Besson. In 2002 together they released on the screens the action film "Carrier" with Jason Steite in the title role.

In 2005, Leterrier engaged in the production of the criminal film "Denny Chain Dog", in which Jet Li and Morgan Freeman were involved . Then the director started projects "Carrier 2", "Incredible Hulk", "Battle of the Titans".

"The illusion of deception" seems to "fall" from the general list of works of Louis Leterrier, as the picture is filmed in the genre of a detective thriller, not an action movie or an action. The situation is characterized by the film's slogan: "The closer you are, the less you see".

Mark Ruffalo as Dylan Rhodes

For the role of Dylan Rhodes - an agent of the FBI and a cunning "Fifth Rider" - tried Colin Firth, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jim Carrey, Sacha Baron Cohen, Hugh Grant. But then the creators of the picture decided that the main character should be a little younger. Then the option of involving Jake Gyllenhaal in the project "Illusion of deception" was considered.
