Retainers after braces: why do they need and what advantages do they have?

Recently, dentists often perform treatment for bite, especially in children. The reasons for improper growth of teeth can be many: heredity, a lack of calcium in the body, as well as a small amount of solid food in infancy. In order to remedy the situation, different methods and designs are used.

To treat an occlusion it is necessary at an early age. Since the jaw is intensively growing at this time, various removable orthodontic devices are used to correct the position of the teeth. They are made individually for each patient. At the same time once a month you should visit a doctor who will correct the plates. For very young children, such designs can be made in bright colors.

One such design is the retainer. It is established after orthodontic treatment has been performed. The post-bracket brackets are installed to prevent the teeth from leaving the dentition. They are a thin, secure wire that almost does not spoil the smile.

This design is mass-produced, although in individual cases it is possible to produce it individually. It can only be installed by a specialist who uses light material or glue in his work. Retainers after braces can be used alone or in combination with other devices.

The presented design should be fixed very firmly, because if it is unfastened, the patient will not be able to correct the situation on his own. The fact is that the container is located behind your teeth. If the device still peeled off, its repeated fixation should be carried out immediately, as otherwise the teeth may disperse.

It may also happen that after the braces retiners have to be worn all their lives. In this case, the design should be periodically changed: every 4 years. However, this does not mean that it will prevent you from fully living. In the mouth, the retainer is practically not felt, and even during a smile it is hardly noticeable. To see whether the apparatus is right, or any orthodontist can change it.

The main advantage of the presented design is that it is able to hold teeth in the required position. There are several types of containers: non-removable and removable. The first option is attached to the inner surface of the teeth and is made of a safe metal, which must be hypoallergenic. In the second case, the containers are made of plastic. They can be attached to one half of the jaw or to two. If the dentition has become stable, and the movement of the teeth has stopped, the structure can be removed, but this will happen in a fairly long period of time.

What exactly after the braces should be worn is determined by the complexity of bite correction, as well as the duration of the use of the bracket system. If you have installed removable structures, you should remember that they require care. Clean them every day.
