Resort Tenerife El Medano - an ideal place for windsurfers

The small town of El Medano, located in the south of the Spanish island of Tenerife, has long been liked by fans of windsurfing. The resort is remote from the big tourist centers, is located twenty kilometers east of Las Americas.

The most important feature of the resort is strong winds. Most tourists consider this a big disadvantage and do not want to choose this place for recreation. That's why there are not many hotels in El Medano at all.

In general, the resort goes windsurfers. For them, this is just an ideal place. The constant wind and slightly changing air temperature throughout the year allow them to jam your favorite sport all year round. Sometimes there are even world championships in windsurfing.

The beach of La Cabeza attracts more tourists thanks to a more even wind and smaller waves. Unlike other coastal lagoons, the shore here is rocky. In August of each year, La Cabeza takes the participants of the windsurfing championship to the competitions.

On the third beach, La Tejita, more tourists flock, because the wind here is much smaller. Between the beaches of El Medano, La Cabeza and La Tejita beach stands the "Red" mountain that stands out in the ocean, which protects this place from strong winds. The beach is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas from the sun, next to several small grocery stores. A small part of the beach, fenced off by a ledge of rock, is intended for nudists. There are even special tours to Spain for nudists. According to the program of the tour, tourists are accommodated in the hotels of El Medano and are offered to get acquainted with La Tejita.

Rest in Spain at the resort of El Medano does not seem very interesting to you. Of course, there are a small number of cafes and restaurants in the center of the city, but this will obviously not be active for young people. Bright entertainment can be found in the nearby resort of Las Americas, but before it will have to go by bus. The journey takes about an hour. If you have the opportunity to rent a car, it makes everything simpler. You can easily travel to Las Americas or Los Cristianos and enjoy the abundance of entertainment there.

Despite the poorly developed infrastructure and a small variety of hotels, the resort of El Medano is one of the most famous cents of windsurfing in Europe.
