Reproduction of roses by a green handle - description of the method

Reproduction of roses by a green handle and summer herbaceous cuttings are two completely different ways. Let's try to understand what are the differences between them, and also list the advantages of each. Growing roses from cuttings at home is available even to a beginner florist. Do not be shy and, armed with all the necessary, embark on the reproduction of your favorite flowers.

Two ways - comparison

Beginners can be advised to try to breed a polyanthic rose, a sort of "floribunda" and stitched. And also some tea-hybrids. All these varieties do not need rooting and budding. So, the problem (the reproduction of roses by a green handle) is simplified. Why is the second method more common? A grassy summer stalk is an escape which begins to move from a grassy state to a lignified state. And the softer the stem, the easier it will take root in a new place. Cutting time of cuttings directly depends on the variety (the stage of shoot formation in different varieties of roses pass differently) and those climatic conditions in which the plant is located. In some cases, it is possible to root flowers from a given bouquet. The more tender the wood at the shoot - the more likely the reproduction of roses is by a green handle.

The first way

Summer herbaceous cuttings should be harvested in early July. Then the bushes obtained from them will have better time to prepare for the winter and will more successfully bear the cold. Choose the right shoot for the cuttings at the moment when the bud is formed and begins to color. The percentage of rooting will decrease if you take a stem with a faded or just bloomed rose. Cut the middle part of the shoot - you need five to eight centimeters with a couple of healthy kidneys. Cut the ends of the leaves with a pruner - this will reduce the evaporation of moisture from the cuttings. The upper cut is made straight, and the bottom cut is oblique. They need to be made with the sharpest knife, after having treated the blade with an antiseptic. Immediately put the shank in the water with heteroauxin - the use of this drug will increase the likelihood of root formation. Change the water every two days, and in two or three weeks at the end of the shoot will appear the embryo of the root. You can immediately plant a rose in the ground, and you can wait for the appearance of real roots. Moving the seedling to the soil, cover with a jar or a film, continue daily spraying with stop water.

Reproduction of roses by green cuttings

The material will need to be cut in autumn. Reproduction of roses by a green handle allows doing this until the first frost. Escape should have from five to eight eyes and be no more than five millimeters thick. It must be cut from the middle part of the stem. The cut at the lower end should be done under the kidney. Cuttings cut into the ground - by spring they will take root. How to prepare the soil? It is better to form special beds - one for each cut. The soil, even friable and nutritious, needs to be fertilized with a mixture of turf, peat, sand and humus. Good will also wood ash. On top of the hole should be sprinkled with river coarse-grained sand. Before the onset of cold weather, the cutting should be covered with polyethylene or a special mat from the reeds. As the roots grow, the film is raised. When frosts come, it must be lowered again, and covered with reed mat.
