Removal of tonsils

Tonsils are parts of lymphatic cells located in areas that are the first and most often encounter pathogens and microbes. These areas in the oral cavity and nasopharynx prevent the attack of microbes and are involved in the production of blood.

The tonsils are divided into paired (palatine). Their inflammation is called angina or tonsillitis. In addition, the tonsils are tubular and unpaired (pharyngeal and lingual).

In newborn children, these areas are poorly developed and practically do not fulfill their tasks. For two to three months of life, the lymphoid tissue begins to function a little.

The pharyngeal tonsil develops most rapidly . In the sky, the growth of lymphoid sites completely occurs by two years. After reaching this age, the glands inside are covered with lacunae (narrow ducts), which have the ability to expand with age. It should be noted that such a structure contributes to the development of inflammation and pathogenic microbes in them.

By the age of five or seven, the tonsils in the throat reach a maximum size. As practice shows, children at this age are more often and more in need of protection from the effects of microbes. The growth of tonsils contributes to the abundance of vaccinations - this is a kind of reaction of the immune system.

The number of antibodies to different infections is gradually increasing, and the almond tissue decreases by nine to ten years. It is replaced by inactive connective cells.

Removal of the tonsils adversely affects the protection of the body from harmful microbial effects. Glands regulate the state of inhaled air passing through the pharynx when eating food, and also take part in the development of immunity.

Removal of the tonsils provokes "stress" of the pharynx tissues during the first weeks. It manifests itself, as a rule, with a sore throat.

Removal of tonsils is assigned only if there are appropriate indications. For preventive purposes, these interventions are not carried out.

It should be noted that modern medicine now has a large number of effective antibiotics that can get rid of inflammation in a short time, avoiding surgery.

Removal of tonsils is recommended when the patient more than four times a year or five times in two years gets sick with angina. Also, surgical intervention is indicated if the patient has a mechanical closure of the airways (snoring in a dream, which is accompanied by a regular interruption of breathing).

Many modern clinics offer today sparing methods of surgical treatment of chronic tonsillitis. Partial removal of lymphoid pharyngeal tissue is often used. In such cases, the destruction of the tonsils is carried out under the influence of ultra-low or ultra-high temperatures. Removal is made of the part that is most affected by inflammation. Such operations are completely painless.

In view of the fact that partial destruction is performed, after the intervention the patient suffers for a certain time with a sore throat, and in some cases also with a rise in temperature.

Removal of tonsils with a laser is prescribed for adults and children from the age of ten. The procedure is completely painless, lasts, as a rule, no more than fifteen to twenty minutes. After the laser surgery, there are almost no complications, antibiotics are not prescribed, as open wounds do not remain and the possibility of infection is excluded. In addition, during the procedure the patient does not lose blood. This technology is also used to eliminate the remaining sections of the glands after the classical tonsillectomy.
