PVA glue: basic features and types

Currently, PVA glue is the most versatile type of glue widely used in many areas. It is used both by schoolchildren in labor lessons, and by professional bricklayers for laying ceramic tiles. The high popularity of this material is explained by the simplicity and convenience of its use, the absence of toxic secretions and an affordable price.

Traditional PVA glue is a homogeneous, rather viscous substance of white color, characterized by a high degree of strength (when glued) and good frost resistance.

Modern industry produces several varieties of this product, which differ in composition and in the class of loads, according to the standard of water resistance. The choice of this or that adhesive directly depends on the field of use and the specific characteristics of those materials that will be glued together. The end result largely depends on this.

The PVA universal adhesive has such technical characteristics as adhesive capacity equal to 400-450 N / m, low flow rate ranging from one hundred to nine hundred grams per square meter (depending on the type of work), high frost resistance of more than four cycles .

In addition, it is worth noting a period of complete drying, usually not exceeding twenty-four hours, and a fairly long shelf life - six to seven months.

Today, PVA glue finds its application in a wide variety of activities. It is also used for laying ceramic tiles, and when covering walls with wallpaper, and even as a mandatory additive in glass production.

Stationery glue, the least toxic of all other types, is used for gluing paper, cardboard or photographs. Joiner, which has a high water resistance and good adhesion, is used when working with a variety of furniture. The glue "Moment", characterized by a minimum time of pressing, is used for laying laminate and parquet. In addition, there is a special PVA glue for wood and leather products. Such a product is also an obligatory component for primers and fillers.

There is also glue, specially designed for ceramic tiles and flooring, homopolymer PVA glue used in the production of building materials, as well as in the textile and porcelain industries. The latter differs by maximum grasping force.

Ecological cleanliness, safety and affordable price make any of the listed types of material a very useful acquisition. By the way, this explains one of the reasons for his so high popularity. On its basis, even produce "smart plasticine" - a special children's toy that can change its state and take absolutely any form.

The obvious advantage over other similar formulations is the main factor that today the manufacturers strive to improve the formulation of PVA glue, and not to invent new adhesives.
