Pride and pride - what's the difference?

On this account, in our society there are completely different opinions. Some believe that pride and pride are diametrically opposed, others that it is practically the same thing. And the versions concerning these human qualities differ among believing people and secular ones.

If you read the Bible and the Holy Fathers of the Church, then the conclusion suggests an unambiguous: pride and pride - the words are single-root and their essence is the same. Pride is a lesser evil, it is compared to a benign tumor, and pride can be compared with a malignant tumor, which causes great harm to both the person himself and the people around him. Why?

The word "pride" consists of a whole set of such unsightly qualities as vanity, self-esteem, a sense of unjustified superiority over others, and so on. And if you look into the dictionary of Dahl, you can still add to this definition: arrogance, arrogance, conceit, arrogance. Pride, according to the Holy Scriptures, is the beginning of sin. Once upon a time, before the emergence of mankind, the oldest angel, Dennitsa, became so proud that he wanted to become like God. What did this lead to? To war, the split and the overthrow of the fallen angels into the underworld. So there was evil. What's good about pride is nothing.

Secular people believe that pride and pride are two different things. It is proud to say that it is good, this self -respect, and as we were taught in Soviet times: "A man sounds proudly." Dignity and pride - things are different, the beginning of pride comes from ignorance of oneself, of one's inner qualities. Prelate Tikhon Zadonsky writes that if a man could know himself, he would have absolutely nothing to be proud of! A person infected with pride, has contempt for everything, puts his point of view above others, is irritated by other people's shortcomings, without noticing his own.

Pride and pride are similar in that the person who infects them elevates himself, does not obey the elders, has no humility, does not accept advice, insults him, makes his own will and so on. By secular standards, these are just good qualities, some even complain, here people are now what they are, do not have pride, are cringing before their superiors, they do not hold their opinions. So understand, who is right in this situation.

If you understand the question: pride - it's bad or good, you can see that the opinions on this subject are divergent between people believers and those who are too far from the faith. The pride of both of them does not cause positive emotions. It is like a derivative of pride, twisted, at times enlarged and disfigured. Starting with vanity, pride can reach an incredible size and bring a person to hell. And its main danger is that no other sin can grow to such huge proportions as this one.

Pride leads to condemnation - that there is a mortal sin. And the Bible says that if you do not judge other people, then you will not be judged. How many times in our thoughts do we condemn the deeds and actions of people, thinking that we are certainly not like that! And then the Lord allows us to fall into the same sins, to bring us to humility. A person, realizing this, thinks: how to get rid of pride, what you need to do for this?

Let us turn to the Holy Fathers who teach us that virtue, the opposite of pride, is love. If a person loves his neighbor, he will not condemn him, he will not be lauded over him, but on the contrary - he will try to understand, help and support him. So, it turns out that you can get rid of pride with the help of love. Love unselfish, when you give everything and you do not demand anything in return for yourself. When you do good not to be returned to you a hundredfold later, but because you love a person and wish him only the best - sincerely and with all your heart. And for this it is very important to see in every person the good that is in it, and not seek out shortcomings. And then gradually, step by step, you can conquer pride and elevation over other people.
