Polyp of the cervical canal: causes and symptoms

Today, the polyp of the cervical canal is the most common benign neoplasm of the female reproductive system. It occurs in every fifth patient who has come for a routine examination.

More often the polyp of the cervical canal, the symptoms of which are not always manifested, is discovered by chance. Depending on the location and size, it can sometimes not be detected by routine examination and even colposcopy. Especially if it is at the end of the canal that connects the vagina and the uterus.

Polyps can be several, then it's polyposis. Sometimes diagnosing a tumor only helps ultrasound. The tumor can be on a wide base or stalk.

However, some patients who subsequently have a polyp of the cervical canal are forced to consult the gynecologist with the following symptoms:

  • Bloody discharge, especially after sex;
  • Cycle disorders (profuse menstruation);
  • infertility.

The neoplasm itself, as a rule, does not interfere with conception, but it arises from similar problems as non-occurrence of pregnancy.

It is believed that the polyp of the cervical canal, the causes of which may be different, is subject to mandatory removal. Doctors believe that it arises because of the following problems:

  • Inflammations, especially chronic;
  • Disorders of the hormonal background;
  • Mechanical injuries;
  • Age changes.

Neoplasm should be removed, since it is possible to degenerate from benign to malignant. In addition, it will interfere with the normal course of labor and bernism, and also be a hotbed of infections and bleeding.

Remove the polyp of the cervical canal using separate diagnostic scraping of the body and cervix. This operation is performed under general anesthesia a few days before menstruation and lasts 20 minutes. After manipulation, the patient is at rest for about 4 hours. If there are no complications, she goes home, and in a week it is necessary to carry out a control examination. The material is sent for histology.

Contraindications for carrying out the WFD are acute inflammations, as well as STDs. In addition, before manipulation it is necessary to undergo the following studies:

  • Examination with a gynecologist ;
  • A smear on the flora of the vagina;
  • Analysis of urine;
  • Ultrasound with transvaginal sensor;
  • Electrocardiogram;
  • Blood for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C;
  • Examination with the therapist;
  • Coagulogram (check blood for clotting).

However, lately more common methods are more common. Among them, laser, radio and electrosurgery, which involve the removal of only the polyp with cauterization of the base. These operations are carried out without anesthesia, are less time-consuming and traumatic. The removed tissue is analyzed. If there are no atypical changes, the treatment is stopped. When a cancer or dysplasia is detected, the necessary therapy is performed.

However, if the leg of the polyp is not completely removed, a relapse of the disease is possible. In addition, this happens if the growth of the tumor occurs from the body of the uterus. Re-formation of the polyp is an indication for the WFD. To increase the accuracy of surgery and reduce the likelihood of complications, it is performed with the help of hysteroscopy. This is the introduction of a thin tube with a lens at the end.

Based on the results of the tests, hormone therapy or anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed. Before complete recovery, it is necessary to exclude thermal procedures, physical activity and intimate life. The rehabilitation period depends on the method of treatment and individual characteristics.

Thus, the polyp of the cervical canal is subject to mandatory removal. Otherwise, it can become malignant, as well as interfere with the course of pregnancy and childbirth. The cause of polyps are diseases of the reproductive system. Since the symptoms are not always obvious, it will help to find out only regular visits to the gynecologist in time.
