Polyoxidonium: instructions for use and description of the preparation

The preparation Polyoxidonium refers to immunomodulators, the product is released in the form of tablets, rectal and vaginal suppositories and powder for the preparation of solutions for injections in vials and ampoules.

Properties of the preparation

The immune system is one of the most important in the body. Immunity helps a person cope with infections, protects from unfavorable factors of both internal and external environment. But it often happens that protective functions are reduced due to poor ecology and a number of other reasons. It becomes difficult for an organism to resist various pathogenic factors. There is a group of drugs-immunomodulators, which are able to support the immune system, normalize its function. Polyoxionium, developed by Russian scientists, belongs to such means.

In addition, Polyoxidonium, the instruction informs about this, is a complex action drug. It is able not only to restore if necessary the immune status, but also to bind and remove toxins from the body. Its success is due to the effectiveness of many diseases associated with immune disorders, including, in infectious inflammatory chronic processes of different localization and etiology.

The combination of antioxidant, detoxicating, immunomodulating properties allows the use of a remedy with success in such diseases as rheumatoid arthritis, tuberculosis, pancreatic necrosis and even in malignant tumors.

Act

Polyoxidonium is a high molecular weight linear polymer having many active groups on the surface. The drug increases resistance to viral, fungal and bacterial agents, effective in generalized infections. The mechanism of its action is the activation of antibody formation and phagocytosis. The drug has an immunocorrective effect, promotes the production of cytokines, affects natural killers and phagocytic cells.

Polyoxidonium, the instruction to which describes in detail the mechanisms of the effect of the drug, restores the immune responses of the organism, including, with secondary immunodeficiencies - with aging of cells, due to the action of ionizing radiation, after therapy with steroids and cytostatics. Apply it in severe infections, after surgical interventions, with malignant lesions, burn lesions.

Application

In outpatient practice, Polyoxidonium tablets are more often prescribed, instructions for use are attached. With sublingual administration (resorption in the mouth), the drug promotes the activation of lymphoid cells that are found in the eustachian tubes, nasal cavity, bronchial tubes, resulting in increased resistance of these organs to infections. When taken orally (oral) in the tablets, the agent increases the activity of lymphoid cells located in the intestine (B cells produce Ig A), which increases the resistance of the digestive tract and respiratory system to infectious agents. The drug Polyoxidonium, in addition, activates tissue macrophages, which facilitates more rapid elimination of pathogens from the body.

The use of the drug, including in the form of suppositories, can significantly improve the effectiveness of treatment, reduce the doses of antibacterial agents, hormones and bronchodilators. In the complex treatment of Polyoxidonium the instruction prescribes to apply when:

  • Recurrent chronic diseases that are difficult to treat, at any stage;
  • Bacterial and viral infections, both acute and chronic;
  • Leukoplakia, dysplasia, cervical ectopy, lesions caused by papilloma virus, colpitis, endometritis, prostatitis, as well as pyelonephritis, cystitis and urethritis;
  • Tuberculosis (its various forms);
  • Allergic diseases (atopic dermatitis, asthma, pollinosis), complicated by bacterial or viral infections;
  • Rheumatoid arthritis, including, complicated ARI, ARVI;
  • Trophic ulcers, burns, fractures to activate regenerative processes;
  • The consequences of radiation and chemotherapy;
  • To reduce hepato- and nephrotoxic side effects of drugs.

As a monotherapy, the agent is used to prevent acute respiratory disease and influenza, as well as exacerbations of chronic infectious diseases, for the correction of immunodeficiencies (secondary) as a result of aging or the action of any unfavorable factors.

Contraindications

Polyoxidonium, instructions Accent attention to this, is contraindicated in case of intolerance of its components and during pregnancy (due to the lack of clinical studies). Side effects of the drug include allergic reactions in the form of angioedema, itching, hives, which occur rarely. Doses and treatment scheme are individually selected by the doctor.
