Linen seam and its application

How much time do we spend in a dream? Someone more, someone less, but on average it's 8-9 hours a day, it turns out that almost a third of life. But how many get enough sleep during this time? Do many sleep bring rest? Or can an unpleasant touch or a pungent smell of your own bed linen make all the hairs on your body stand up? How often have you thought about this? But it would be worth it! After all, it's still a third of life!

How to choose the right bedding on the market? Or still master the sewing of bed linen by yourself? The second option will be much cheaper, but about it a little later.

Let's talk about choosing bed linen, and what you need to pay attention to. In the selection we are often guided only by external characteristics, although it is worth to dig further. Do not be afraid of oblique glances, and turn the pillowcase and duvet cover inside out and carefully examine the seams, here you must use the underwear seam, without open cuts and ugly zigzags, otherwise bed linens after washing will begin to creep at the seams. Also should sniff at the laundry, it should not have a sharp and unpleasant smell. If the search for a quality bed at an affordable price for you has not been successful, it's time to adjust yourself to the idea of "I'm learning to sew".

Let's go back to the independent tailoring and try to figure out how to sew the bed linen correctly.

First you need to determine the size and quantity of the desired tissue. If the duvet cover and the sheet have their standard sizes, then the favorite pillow should be measured.

The usual one and a half set of linen consists of pillowcases 70 to 70, sheets and duvet cover 150 to 210 cm. The double set is slightly larger, its sheets - 220 to 260 and blankets - 200 to 220 cm. There are also family sets, they have a large sheet, two Sesquialhed duvet cover and pillowcase. However, it is better to measure your blanket and mattress so that the "dress" for your bed will sit perfectly.

When calculating the fabric, it is worth considering allowances for seams and the density of the material. The denser the fabric, the greater the distance the linen suture is taken. As for the fabric, it can be cotton, satin, coarse calico, linen, silk or chintz. It is advisable to take a cloth with a width of 220 cm to cut the laundry across the cut. On the seams of the duvet cover and pillowcases, where the fabric edge gets to, the sewing seam can not be used, it is enough to lay the usual line with an average step. Only sheets are processed on the sheets, they need to be twisted and adjusted.

The linen seam, also called a seam stitch, which is used in the processing of bed linen, is done so. The details are folded inwards, the cut of the bottom sheet should protrude slightly from the top, a line is laid 3 mm from the edge of the top cut. After grinding, the parts are unfolded and straightened along the seam. Further, the protruding edge is folded twice in the direction of the smaller cut and poured. Thus, there is a seam, hiding all the slices, but due to two paved lines it becomes stronger.

As you can see, everything is simple enough, the main thing is to choose a good quality fabric and enjoy your own linen.
