Piston water pump: device and use

In the private sector, it is not always possible to connect to centralized water supply, so every landlord tries to equip a well near the house. Water is not necessary to carry buckets. A reciprocating pump can supply it directly to the house.

The principle of the device is simple enough. With some effort, the piston in the cylinder moves up and down. The draft is then passed through a flange with a rubber seal that is on the top cover. A pipe is attached to the bottom of the device, there is a piston in it. When it is lowered, the water through this opening is passed upward, while the valve at the bottom of the device is closed by the water pressure. If the piston starts to rise, the water that is above it begins to pour through the outlet pipe. At the same time, the lower valve opens, and the liquid is recruited inside the device.

The reciprocating pump now does everything automatically. It is enough to install it correctly and connect it to the power supply. In this case, all the accessories must be strong and reliable, especially the inlet pipe through which water is fed into the pump. Otherwise, thrust can provoke sticking of its walls.

Also, the piston pump must be equipped with sufficiently strong check valves to prevent water from returning to the inlet hose. They can be membrane or ball. If a round valve is used, it is desirable that it be made of glass, ebonite or heavy plastic.

However, one should also take into account the fact that the devices are not designed for a depth of more than 8 meters. If the distance from the surface to the groundwater table is large enough, then a deep pump must be installed. The fact is that the normal operation of the device can prevent atmospheric pressure.

It should be noted that not always a device operating from an electrical network can perform its function without failures. The fact is that from time to time the network may be malfunctioning. In this case, it can be extremely useful to have a manual piston pump. Although to date such devices have not been used for a long time and they are hard to buy. It will be useful also in the event that you do not plan to spend all the time on the site, do not intend to use water every day.

The piston pump can be built on its own, especially since there are a lot of circuits for the design of the device. However, it is better to buy the device from a rooted producer.

Both at home and on an industrial scale, axial-piston pumps are used. They have a smaller mass, smaller dimensions, they can work at high speeds, and they can simply be mounted and serviced. The device is unpretentious in use, it can be easily repaired in case of breakage. The only drawback may be its cost, which is often quite high. It can also be used in the hydraulic drive of aircraft, machine tools, bulldozers and other large machines.
