Childhood of a musician

In 1978, on May 11, the future famous cellist Perttu Kivilaakso was born. In the city of Helsinki, which is in Finland, his first years of life passed. Therefore, he went to Helsinki, where he entered the Sibelius Academy of Music. In 2000 he finished his studies and received a diploma with honors. Since 1998, Perttu began to play in the Helsinki Orchestra. There he worked until 2005. The young man decided to learn how to play several more instruments. In addition to the cello, he mastered the art of performing works on the pianoforte and guitar. Moreover, Perttu has one very important achievement. At the International competition of cellists, he was able to take the third place. This result could not be achieved yet to any Finn.

Before the beginning of a rock career

After completing his studies, Perttu Chivilaakso went on tour around his native country. His virtuoso playing the cello could not but penetrate into the hearts of the fans of the classics. Therefore, soon the musician began to perform not only in Finland, but also in many countries around the world. Together with various pianists, he gave concerts in countries such as Germany, Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Israel, Russia, the United States, Japan and Estonia. Perttu was the soloist of the orchestra, which consisted of ninety people. Several large European classical music festivals were not without the participation of Kivilaakso as the main cellist in the performances.

Member of the Apocalyptica Group

With the leader of the rock band Apocalyptica, whose name is Eikka Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso has been cooperating since 1995. But he became an official participant of the collective only in 1999. Perttu was able to join the rock band when he turned seventeen. But the participants Apocalyptica it seemed that this could negatively affect the career of Pertt in the classical direction. After all, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra has concluded a lifelong contract with Kivilaakso, and this can be considered an exceptional case. Personal life

Perttu Kivilaakso and his wife Anne-Marie Berg parted in 2014. They were together for six years. Anne-Marie worked as a model. She lived with Perttu in Finland, in the city of Turku. As Berg herself said, it could not be a simple addition to the musician's life. Also Anne-Marie announced that this relationship took away too much of her. Now she wants to restore emotional balance. In those years when the couple was together, she wanted to take first place in the heart of her husband. But for Kivilaakso the main thing in life was music.
