History of the theater

Over a hundred years ago the Astrakhan State Theater of Opera and Ballet was opened. Astrakhan is a city in which the age-old traditions of art have developed. The initiator of the construction of the theater was the businessman Konstantin Polyakovich. The project was created by the architect A. S. Malakhovsky. The first building of the theater was built in the summer garden, called "Arcadia". Carved details for decorating the future temple of art were made by the best masters of the Vyatka province.
