OJSC "Aviation Complex named after Ilyushin S.V.", Moscow

The Aviation Complex named after Ilyushin SV is one of the oldest enterprises creating the best aircraft in Russia. Merits before the state were repeatedly highly appreciated. The OKB was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Red Banner of Labor, the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of the October Revolution. The design bureau continues work on the creation of technology for flights, taking into account modern technologies.

The first design success

The Aviation Complex named after Ilyushin SV was founded in January 1933. First of all, a design bureau was created, the work of which began at the plant number 39. The task of the Design Bureau was to develop a closed production cycle and design light and serial aircraft, including for military purposes. The head of the bureau was appointed S. V. Ilyushin. The team, which started developing the bomber TsKB-26, consisted of seven designers. By May 1934, the staff had increased to 54 people.

In the first bomber constructors laid the latest developments, which favorably distinguished him from the available in service vehicles. Technical documentation and prototype were released as soon as possible. The Aviation Complex named after Ilyushin VS tested the TsKB-26 model in the summer of 1934, an experienced test pilot VK Kokkinaki was sitting at the helm. The test results showed not only good performance, but outstanding achievements of the whole team. In the future, this car won at many competitions, setting world records in speed and range of flights.

Serial support of the army and records

After successful tests of the first bomber, SV Ilyushin was instructed to ensure the release of the second generation of the TsKB-30 flying machines with all-metal construction. The experimental model was tested in 1936, and the aircraft was serialized under the name of DB-3.

Its release began with three plants located in Moscow, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Voronezh. The bombers of the new model gradually replaced the obsolete DB-3 models in the ground regiments of the Air Force. For the fleet was created a separate type of torpedo bombers, called DB-3T.

Acknowledgment of the fact that the Ilyushin Aviation Complex created the best model of flight technology at that time, there are two long-distance flights of the machine, made without an intermediate landing. One of them was on the route Moscow - Far East, the second paved the way across the Atlantic Ocean to North America, the length of 8 thousand kilometers.

For the front

Before the war, in 1939, the aviation complex named after Ilyushin SV conducted tests of the improved model of the bomber modification DB-3F. In the car, aerodynamic qualities were improved, the engine received more power, and the flight speed increased to 445 kilometers per hour. The aircraft, loaded with a bomb load of a total mass of 1 ton, made a flight with a range of up to 3,5 thousand kilometers.

With the outbreak of the war, all models of aircraft, which produced a series of aircraft complex. Ilyushin, were involved in the active conduct of battles. Already in August 1941, the vehicles of the DB-3 of the Baltic Air Fleet bombed Berlin. In 1942 the bombers of the first series released received the designation Il-4. In the Battle of Stalingrad in 1942, 480 long-range bombers took part. During the war, the IL-4 became the main type of vehicles used in combat operations.

Flying Tank

By 1941 in the arsenal of the Ilyushin Design Bureau was the development of technical documentation and a prototype of a "flying tank" - a two-seat armored aircraft. By its bombing and reconnaissance characteristics, it was much more efficient than other analogues of other design bureaus. VK Kokkinaki tested the prototype in October 1939, but the results were unsatisfactory.

It took a lot to refine, in particular, it was necessary to improve the engine AM038, re-equipping the cabin for one pilot instead of two, and the military demanded the addition of weapons. In 1940, the aircraft was called IL-2 and was launched into mass production at the Voronezh aircraft plant. Before the outbreak of the war, almost 250 storm troopers were fired at the enterprise.

The first fight of the five Il-2 planes was on June 27, 1941, attacking a column of German equipment near the city of Bobruisk. In the same period, the release of "Ilov" fell in connection with the mass evacuation of plants, after Stalin's intervention, the situation was smoothed out, and production capacities began to increase. By the time the battle began on the Kursk Bulge, more than 1 thousand Il-2 aircraft had been delivered to the front on a monthly basis. Over the years of the war, more than 3,600 cars were built.

Modifications of IL-2

Participation in military operations demonstrated some disadvantages of IL-2, in particular, the insecurity of its tail during enemy attacks on the aircraft. Eliminate the defect decided with a return to the double cabin, where the second participant in the flight was the shooter, for which a large-caliber machine gun was installed ME Berezina. This modification of the attack aircraft laid the foundation for a new type of aviation equipment.

On the basis of the advanced Il-2, the Ilyushin Aviation Complex named after S.V. issued a maneuverable armored Il-10 assault aircraft, which became widespread in the last period of the war with Germany and took part in combat operations in Japan. In the Soviet army, the IL-10 was in service until 1950, the serial production was discontinued in 1947. More than 30% of the total flight crew of vehicles involved in the Great Patriotic War, designed and launched a series of aircraft complex. S. V. Ilyushin.

Passenger transport

For some time the OKB was in evacuation (October 1941 - April 1942) in the city of Kuibyshev. Upon his return to Moscow, SV Ilyushin was appointed director and chief designer of the aviation plant No. 240. After a fracture in the war in favor of the USSR, Ilyushin began to develop a passenger air transport. The first aircraft for mass transportation was Il-12. Its operation began in 1946, except for the passenger model, it was built in a military transport modification.

In 1950, the Ilyushin Aviation Complex (Moscow) produced a passenger Il-14 aircraft with a qualitatively improved performance after the analysis of the IL-12 operational data. The new model was produced in 14 variants by three countries - the USSR, the GDR, Czechoslovakia. The aircraft was used for mass passenger transportation and scientific expeditions. Later in the OKB worked on the creation of passenger, specialized air transport and aircraft for the Air Force.

Passenger and special transport

The Aviation Complex named after Ilyushin S.V. at different times issued a line of passenger air transport:

  • Il-12 (4 modifications) was in operation from 1947 to 1968. In China, aircraft were involved before 1988. For all time 663 units have been produced.
