Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory named after MI Glinka: address, faculties, terms of training

Founded in 1946, the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory (until 1990 - the Gorky State) almost immediately took the place of one of the best musical universities in the country. First of all, it is the merit of a remarkable team of teachers - graduates of the Moscow and Leningrad Conservatoires, by the time the already well-known musicians and literate theoreticians began to work.

At the origins

His initiatives in every possible way helped the university to remain among the leading ones and to take ever more deserving place every year. The Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory in 1957 received the honorary name of the composer M. I. Glinka.

Climb

Already by the sixties in the conservatory excellent musical traditions were formed, basic pedagogical schools were established, and in 1965 the system of further education - postgraduate education - was established. Earlier, the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory decorated its Great Concert Hall with the organ of the German firm "Alexander Shuke", the students received an increasingly comfortable building for classes and new hostels.

The organ in the hall of the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatoire did not stand idle. But the competition of entrants Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory has always been very large. Theorists

Twenty-one years, since 1972, the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory. Glinka flourished under the leadership of the famous composer, People's Artist of the USSR, Professor AA Nesterov. In those years the Composer's department was very bright, there was a strong music school, collections of articles and scientific works were published that became widely known: "Problems of Modern Music", "Problems of Analysis of Music" and many others. In the seventies the Grand Concert Hall of the Gorky Conservatory presented mankind with the first performances of Schnittke's works, Rachmaninov's spiritual music, the music of Kastalsky, Chesnokov, and also some Western composers. Each such concert was an opening and affirmed the general opinion about this university as a bold and honest pioneer and prohibited masterpieces, and undeservedly forgotten authors.

New time

Since 1994, an outstanding conductor, People's Artist of Russia and Honorary Citizen of Nizhny Novgorod, Professor LK Sivukhin has been elected to the post of rector. It was then that the university entrusted to him acquired extensive ties with music universities abroad and international status. Now students and trainees from Syria, Japan, France, Denmark, China, the USA, and Jamaica are studying at the Conservatory.

In 1996 NNGK was headed by the conductor and composer, Honored Art Worker, People's Artist of Russia, member of the Academy of Humanities, laureate of many awards and chevalier of orders, Professor E. B. Fertelmeister. Since that moment, the development of the university has flowed in all directions, and integration into the musical culture of the world has acquired new momentum. The authority of NNGK has significantly increased, and in 2005 the university receives the status of an academy. Conservatory and externally changed: the facade, walls, interiors have become modern, but the atmosphere of creative coziness, created initially, has been preserved in its entirety.

Areas of activity

Now NNGK is the largest center of musical culture in the entire Volga region, providing the federal district with musical, educational, and scientific activities, which has been repeatedly awarded with various grants: the Humanitarian Science Foundation of Russia, the Open Society Institute, Goethe Institute, and scholarships DAAD and many others. Without serious scientific research, which is carried out in the university, the authority of NNGK would not have such a height.
