Newborn kitten: basic rules of care

If you have a newborn kitten (in connection with the death of a cat during childbirth or for some other reason), then you can save it. To do this, you need to know what this kid needs. Just want to warn that this is a difficult and troublesome business.

The kitten is born blind and deaf, but it has very developed sense of smell and touch. Already in the first hours after birth, he looks for the nipples of a cat, and on the fourth day begins to stimulate the paw to pour milk. The question immediately arises as to how to feed such a baby. Undoubtedly, most of all he needs mother's milk, but if the cat is killed, it will be best to find another and put the kitten to her. But sometimes it's impossible to do, so you have to feed the kitten yourself.

A newborn kitten needs milk, so you should start with it. Take two tablespoons of medium-fat milk, add a pinch of sugar or a drop of honey, lightly heat it (up to 30 - 33 degrees) and start feeding. If you feed the kitten from the first days of life, then you know that in the first ten days you will have to do this every two to three hours, even at night. Each day, the serving should be increased by a teaspoonful. Then you can gradually add porridge, cooked the same way as for a newborn baby.

In the first days of life, the kitten will be well-fed from a small bottle with a pacifier, not Try to feed it from a pipette or push food with a spoon. It can get into the respiratory tract and cause it to suffocate.

A month later a newborn kitten will be able to digest meat, while it is necessary to select dietary varieties. Roll a ball about the size of a pea from a meat, put it in the baby's mouth and wait for the "beast" to try out a new, not yet familiar to him food. However, meat should not be taken into consideration - it can negatively affect the work of the intestines. From the eighth week you can transfer your ward to the kitten feed.

In addition to proper and balanced nutrition, the newborn kitten needs proper care. You will have to wash it, however, this does not mean that it should be a full bath with shampoo - just wipe the wool with a damp napkin.

You will have to equip your baby with a "nest" - a place where he has yet to spend most of his life. This can be some kind of box in which it would be possible to maintain the temperature - in fact, the kitten is still too small, and it requires additional heat. Under normal conditions, the cat warms the babies, which are pressed against it. You also have to use a heating pad wrapped in a towel.

As you can see, taking care of a newborn kitten is a difficult and time-consuming process, so when you hear from your child: "I want a kitten!", Think carefully about whether you need such an acquisition.

If your cat was born several kittens, then the efforts, respectively, multiply, and the cherished day, when the sale of kittens, may not come very soon. However, selling them or giving them is a private matter for every owner, the main thing is that these tiny creatures get into kind and caring hands.
